what difference does the home table make for the measure being created?

It doesn’t make a difference, as measure’s don’t belong to any specific table. It’s best practice to create a separate Measures table in which you can store your measures, it will help you to stay organised and to find your measures quickly.

I am sure you will cover this later, but it is important to point out here that not all iterating functions end with 'x' - FILTER function is an example of that.
