Hello Julian, great source. I will share with you a case. Our company website had configured using GTM and once we decide to import Google Analytics goals especially goals lead the user to thank-you page instead of Google ads conversion tracking. in steps, I will show you:- 1) Import valuable goals from GA to Google ads account. 2) Do not create google conversions tracking in both GTM and Google ads account. The bad news, Google analytics start count conversions generated by Google ads account and nothing recording in the Google ads account neither in the Conversions Column nor All Conversions Column. After that, I tried to create a new Conversion tracking code in Google ads account and configure it into the GTM conversion tracking Tag. The Conversion starts counting in the Google Ads columns in both (All Conversion and Conversion column). Summary of my case. To avoid facing the accounting issue as I had been before, I think it's mandatory to create both once you are using Google Tag Manager. **Another thing I want to check with you according to import Google Analytics goals operation into Google ads Conversion. In some time you find All Conversion Count for example 10 and Conversion column count 7. Does the difference (3 Conversion) are created in the first user steps and then the user convert through other channels? I truly appreciate your feedback!

You just saved my sleep with this video👍🏻 I was going through your gtm beginners videos today as I wanted to track GAds with gtm... but of course I had already importet GAnalytic goals into my GAds account... and I ended up having installed and tracked both method and the rest of the evening I was spending with figuring out if that makes sence and was already getting a bit desperate until I found this great video - Thank you very much. Great tutorials and a huge support for beginners like me who are working their way into the data driven way of marketing👍🏻👍🏻

your vdieo is really helpful, thank you. Can i ask a quick question: does google machine need to learn again after i moved my conversion button (whatsapp) on home page to contact page on my same website? Cause i noticed that my conversion shows 0 after i moved conversion button on homepage, but i did not change the button code anything, just move from one page to another. Usually i got 15-20 conversions daily.

1. This is still relevant in this days , maybe algorithms and GA4 is make some changes and updated system for that ? 2. u still recommend to set up code google ads in website and also add to "conversion actions" to have both ? GA AND GOOGLE ADS ? 25:50
@hosseinseif15643 жыл бұрын
ONE: GA Calculate the goal with ok? if was google ads it will send conversion to google ads. TWO: now you have conversion in g-ads. THREE: then in google ads you choose for example First click attribution Model for imported goal from GA. FOUR: in google ads based on attribution model you choose (First click) Gives all credit for the conversion to the first-clicked ad and corresponding keyword. the attribution model you choose in google ads is for ADS! Not other sources... Great Video ...

I noticed at 25:29 you had the attribution for a Google Ads Conversion set to Last Click. Would this then eliminate the duplicate conversion issue you mentioned earlier, similar to how Google Analytics counts the conversion?
@Etianen72 жыл бұрын
Google Ads attribution models determine which ad gets credited for the conversion. So in the case of last-click model in Google Ads, if the user sees multiple ads, the last ad gets credited for the conversion. That is different from how Google Analytics determines that. Google Analytics takes into consideration all channels, not just different ads within Google Ads, so the outcome of Google Analytics' last-click model may be different (and usually is) than that of the Google Ads last-click model.

One key difference used to be that Google Analytics imports didn't report cross-device conversions (which actually aren't counted but estimated in Google Ads). Google Analytics recently got its own cross-device estimation, but I don't know if it exports that to Google Ads.

I think what is missing is the difference in the amount of data gathered by 3rd party Google Ads vs. 1st party GA. This is especially important given recent browsers / ios14 regulations of blocking of the 3rd party cookies.. An analysis of the abundance of these two different conversions could help to identify which conversion source to use for optimization.
@MeasureSchool3 жыл бұрын
well Google Ads also has 1st party cookies now. IOS 14 is irrelevant (maybe you talking ITP?) as it mostly applies to apps. Hard to look into the future in these videos

How does this play into the whole gtag.js topic and the concerns around ITP 2.0? Also, when you say that you recommend implementing the Google Ads conversion tracking, do you mean the gtag.js expanded with the Google Ads ID?
@MeasureSchool4 жыл бұрын
gtag.js is just another way to implement all this - the premise would stay the same. ITP 2.0 - that's a cookie issue. Yes, of course it influences this, but only in certain circumstances. I'm describing the standard case here
@karolinadrozdz39094 жыл бұрын
@@MeasureSchool Thank you for your reply! Isn't gtag.js a recommended method right now? The old conversion tracking codes are being deprecated from Google Ads. ITP 2.0 is a cookie issue, but the answer to that was gtag.js to not lose conversion data in Safari, at least from what I know. Is there another video where you are discussing these things?

Great Content! Quick question regards Position-based attribution in the conversion settings in Ads -> If i use the ads tracking code and the costumers touchpoints are e.g Ads -> Facebook -> Organic->Conversion, the ads Tracking Code will count 1 Conversion (while Analytics will count 0)..? Now if thats correct, how does position based attribution work if the Ads code only counts 1 or 0 ?

This video is incorrect. There is no difference in either method if you set the attribution model to the same for each in Google Ads. For example, while Google Analytics has a default model in GA that can't be changed - you can absolutely change the method of attribution in Google Ads for a conversion event imported from GA. The other key difference is everything is pushed from Google Analytics to Google Ads then whether it records as a conversion or not depends on the attribution model chosen i.e. if you have chosen time decay all the touch points from Analytics are taken into account. Your comparison at approx 10:48 entirely depends on the model chosen as well. The standard Google Ads conversion is also last click so both models in that example would not have recorded an "ads" conversion. In summary - it all depends on the attribution model chosen in Google Ads, you can change it to whatever you want by going to > Tools and Settings > Conversions > then click on the conversion action you want to change then change the attribution model.

Interesting! I wanted to ask the guy in the video about the meaning of changing attribution model of an imported goal in the google ads conversions settings. I mean if analytics sends the conversions which their last click has been ad click, what is the point in changing the attribution model of that imported conversion action?! It seems this video is missing something! Actually I've read the same argument this video makes in other websites but I've always been skeptical about it! Now I feel I'm not alone! 😉 I hope they clarify this issue!

I'd love to see an answer to this from MeasureSchool!
@maartenmidden16514 жыл бұрын
I don't think you are correct. Google ads conversion tracking is also taking impression data (and other data points) into account for example. Google Analytics doesn't. GA starts tracking when you've been on the website, Google Ads once you have seen an ad. So even changing the attribution models isn't the same since you are missing data GA is not collecting.
@lucyrichards99154 жыл бұрын
@@maartenmidden1651 Google Ads records impression, click data regardless of whether you have a goal-conversion event setup, creating a goal using either method will assign it to that particular click if it meets the attribution model you have selected in Google Ads - it does not matter which method you use, Google Ads will still assign the conversion to the right click. And all usual Adwords data will record no matter what type of method you use. If anyone has any doubts on what I’m saying then just phone up an Adwords specialist at Google and ask them, or just do your own testing, I gave you the path and here it is again - “you can change it to whatever you want by going to > Tools and Settings > Conversions > then click on the conversion action you want to change then change the attribution model.”
@lucyrichards99154 жыл бұрын
@@alihosseini4128 Users need to understand this point - You can create a goal in Analytics, let’s say it’s a simple thankyou page recording. Now the reporting method in Analytics reports based on the last interaction. But when you import that goal into Google Ads you are only importing the action/goal - not the reporting method. You set your own attribution method in Google Ads. Once users understand that it will become much clearer.

As usual useful content by Julian. Thanks my man. So if I have GA installed and am importing conversions to Google Ads - are the y imported automatically in real time? Then I dont have to install the Ads Conversion tracking snippet via GTM right?
@Sunbeak.4 жыл бұрын
Thank you Julian! But i didn't understand what's the point of importiong Google Analytics conversions in AdWords account if we track conversions via AdWords. If we will want to see the "All conversions" column - there weill be a duplicated conversions data, right?
