Density is the mass per unit volume of a substance.
In this video I demonstrate three methods for measuring the density of different substances.
I start by demonstrating how to measure the density of a liquid (water, in this case).
I then measure the density of a regular solid (an aluminium cube), by measuring its dimensions.
Finally I look at an irregular shape (a lump of lead), using a eureka (archimedes) can to measure its volume.
The top pan balance measures the mass in grams. The flickering of the readout is caused by "aliasing", which is due to the frame rate of the camera being slightly different to the refresh rate of the digital display. I edited the video to try and minimise this effect.

Erratum: After reviewing the video I noticed that the measurements for lead don't give the correct density. I trace the problem back to the eureka can I was using: The spout of the can is very narrow, and frequently holds some of the water back (due to surface tension). This water only came out when I added the lead, resulting in a volume that was greater than it should have been and hence a value for density that was too low. The methodology behind the experiment was correct, though.

Gotta love the genius of practical demonstrable science, you can almost jump right in the mindset of the experiment's creator. Quite incredible, wish theoretical was as easy to swallow.

Give a theoretical explanation before make this video for better understanding, So audience properly ubderstand the subject which on make this video. Byvthe way video full of knowledge keep it up

Thank you for your suggestion. I intend in the near future to release some explanation video, but want to keep them separate from the experiments, as most of the people watching my current video only want to see the experiment (they get the theory from elsewhere).
