Make it so easy to use that even a child can use it. No excuse for the old-timers to say they’re afraid or it’s too complicated. 😂

Little man knows that blower door better than I do.

how about not putting ductwork in unconditioned attics and crawls in the first place? insulate roof deck or crawlspace walls, close the vents.

Great video, explains much. Thanks.

Interested for feedback from folks who conduct this test. The video noted "outside the thermal envelope" as the lto cfm. If the duct works in the basement, do we mean "leakage in the unconditioned basement" or "leakage" literally outside the home." Also, does anyone open a door or window to connect the basement space to the exterior elemetns.

It appear that two 2-channel manometers are needed, is that right? The test could not be performed with a DG-1000 and a DG-8?
@dustincole2625 Жыл бұрын
The 1000 will work, the DG8 will not though

The DG-8 in combination with the TEC gauge app will drive the blower door. You will not get a blower door cfm reading, but that is not needed for the DLTO test. You will need a DG-1000 for the DuctBlaster to get a cfm reading.

How do we know what is an acceptable amount of leakage? For instance, percent of leakage?
@christopherhughes2482 Жыл бұрын
The best way I think I could answer this would be like this. Most people in a hot humid climate would not dare have a constant volume exhaust fan running with 50 cfm. I think personally keeping it under 25 cfm would be would be a good measure. But this is my opinion based on my own experience in houses in my climate.

I have never seen a more convoluted pile of crap than this presentation. IF you seal off EVERY window, ALL bathroom vents, dryer vent, microwave vent, water heater vent, your still going to have some air intrusion. This setup is a great example of "heating contractor overthink sales babble". If your heating contractor suggests you need this done, hire a new contractor. The simple way to check duct leak is seal everything you can, run one of the manometer lines outside, and turn on the furnace . If your ducts are leaking, you will get a negative reading in the house. Simple. BUT, ALL DUCTS LEAK!! So don't fall for the " you need all new duct work right now". The new one's will leak also.

Problem is the video was way too short to give any kind of valuable info. It is a good test when done correctly.
