What sewing denim jeans, How much fabric would you say in metres length it takes to makes 1 pair of jeans (Waist 42" INSEAM 36") with a width of 150 cm? Your best caluclated guess would be okay.

I've been taking apart a couple of my jeans, and noticed that some pair, have much bigger differences in front panel vs back panel, but measuring across the hip is the same. How does that affect the fit? I can't seem to tell on my own pair, is it an aesthetic choice? Thank you so much

For the same reasons a woman's shirt might have more fabric on the front panel around the chest when compared to a men's-because you need to accommodate variations in body mass (ie. the bust). Pattern pieces are constructed relative to the anatomical/cardinal planes. So, in trousers at the waist/hips the distribution of body mass is considered to be closer to 50/50 on the front and back of the coronal plane-but as you work your way down the coronal plane toward the feet, the distribution of mass leans to the rear of the body (think glutes, calves). This would look different on a pattern for loose fit jeans and skinny jeans. And then, if you look at a pattern for +++ sizes you might find that the waist/hip measurement is larger at the front as you would need to accommodate any increase in mass due weight carried around the stomach, for example. Technically you could distribute the fabric evenly across front and back panels but this would mean your side seams wouldn't be straight-so it's both a fit and an aesthetic choice.

Rey is a good tailor. He has a lot of experience working with different kinds of denim. For me, he did some darning work on a pair of Iron Heart jeans, now I can wear them again. I would recommend him to anyone looking for a good tailor at a fair price.
