Great explanation of measuring tiny amount these days am struggling with this problem hats off to you sir🎉

It's so simple! I feel a little dumb that I never thought of it. 😅 Edit: I'm a chef, not a photographer. Sometimes I write recipes, and I wanna get really accurate on dry goods without a gram scale, so this method will definitely come in handy. Thanks again! 😄👍

How exactly tf did the video help

I'm gonna rewatch it and get back to you. But I'm pretty sure the answer is "use math."
@ShovelChef7 ай бұрын
Yeah, basically, if you need gram-scale accuracy for a recipe, and you know the "visual weight" of the stuff-- a teaspoon or whatever-- this is how you can split it accurately, distribute it across different batches of other-- omg I just realized more things that aren't photography. 😏

@malachite072 If you can only weigh to 1g accuracy but you need 0.25g or 0.1g you can use this method by dividing the 1g accordingly.

@@PictorialPlanet 1 gram of flour? I don't remember what you used in the video I was in a hurry. But using math doesn't explain how I am weighing the other product.

Doesn’t it also depend on the density of substance for what it will weigh?

I have 100gms of a medicine powder and needed to take 2-4gm out of that daily ... Now how do you suppose me to do that? ... By dividing it into 50gms then 25gms then 12.5 then 6.25 then 3.125 ...😅 I understand that method told by you might be only method to measure without a scale but dude बड़ा सोचो

Is funny that calibrated spoons are sometimes more expensive than small digital scales. Bought one scale for 20€ and it is very accurate. I checked it with some calibrated weights...

Lots of calibrated stuff going on here.

@@PictorialPlanet indeed😂. I want to change to self mixing my chemicals. So may be it is a good idea to get s little scale... But your method seems to be good too..

I normally use scales too but I show teaspoon measurements to help those who want self development to be as affordable as possible. Back when I started darkroom work in the 1960s many used cooking teaspoons for their measuring. It was and still is quite adequate. As I explain in my videos you don't need calibrated teaspoons/ tablespoons as long as you use the same ones each time. You will find your own developing times for your measurements. However, I applaud your buying scales! It will allow you to make much more.

@@PictorialPlanet I like your approach to do things the easy way. Unfortunately my son took all old spoons when he moved out and my wife forbid to steal the newer ones for my lab work. ;) These measuring spoons seems to be more common in the english speaking world. Here in Germany i found a better quality (not cheap plastic but metal) set of them for 25€ at amazon and a scale costs just 20€… It is crazy how cheap (and bad sometimes) electronic devices are nowadays…

According to The Calculator Site, 1 gram = .17 teaspoon. Which is less than 1/4 teaspoon, or .25 teaspoon.

Teaspoons measure volume, grams measure weight. Some things will weigh a gram per teaspoon, others will not.
