There was a Dracula movie with Gary Oldman and Keanu Reeves. Something running through the plot is that Dracula falls because his wife dives off the castle wall....fatally. Jim Steinman's wrote the best songs Meatloaf sang. The songs he did without Jim were not in the same league. I'd say Modern Girl was probably the most popular of that era. Once you know Jim Steinman's sound, you can pick his songs out of anywhere. Holding out for a hero - Bonnie Tyler. All coming back to me - Celine Dion. Very big, very flamboyant. Perfect for Meatloaf, as that was his personality! I've seen him in concert twice! True showman!

This was a song from the album Bat out of Hell II. There were almost 20 years between bat 1 and bat 2, during that time Meatloaf had actually blew out his voice, almost to the point where he couldn't talk. he spent 20 years learning how to sing again, so his voice is deeper and more powerful and he learned to control it better so he didn't hurt himself again. and as for the mysterious "that" he explains what it is in the song if you listen. "Sooner or later you'll be screwing around" "no i won't do that"

I told my kid that when she was little and she was never afraid of thunder after that. It was “I wonder who’s playing now and what song they’re doing”. 13:25 there’s a sequel to the music video. The song is called “I’d Lie for You (And that’s the truth)”. It’s as cinematic as this one plus the song is just as amazing.

This is such a beautiful and sad song. It's a dialogue between the singer and his love who has died. The beast persona he takes on in the video is representative of his grief. The tragedy of the song is when he says, " I won't do that", he is saying that he'll never move on and never love again.

The female lead voice dubbed here, is from Lorraine Crosby, from the UK. The story goes that when the song was recorded, the lady who was supposed to contribute her voice failed to show up for whatever reason, and they were desperate to find someone who'd be prepared to stand in for her, and they found Lorraine who was recording her own stuff in another studio, so they asked her and thank God she agreed. She has an incredible voice and she had a major input to this amazing video.

Jim Steinman is the songwriting genius behind many of the Meat Loaf albums, namely Bat Out Of Hell (1977), Dead Ringer (1981), Bat Out Of Hell II : Back Into Hell (1993), Bat Out Of Hell II : The Monster Is Loose (2006), and Braver Than We Are (2016). All other albums are a hodgepodge of talented songwriters, with the occasional track or two from Steinman, and even Meat himself accrued some (co-)writing credits on the 2010 album Hang Cool Teddy Bear. Before Dead Ringer, meat Loaf endured some challenges and difficulties that result ed in him losing his voice, and Steinman was left to deliver an album for the label, and elected to put out the intended material as a solo album, Bad For Good. That was April of 1981, and by September of that same year, Dead Ringer was released with Meat back in action, better than ever. The fun thing, is that BFG and DR have similar production quality and could be considered 2 parts of a whole. Also, many songs for Jim's BFG album resurfaced in new recordings on future Meat Loaf albums over the years. Here's the discography so you know what you;re diving into : 1977 - BAT OUT OF HELL (all songs by Steinman) 1981 - BAD FOR GOOD (Jim Steinman solo album, all songs by Steinman) 1981 - DEAD RINGER (all songs by Steinman) 1983 - MIDNIGHT AT THE LOST & FOUND 1984 - BAD ATTITUDE (2 songs by Steinman) 1986 - BLIND BEFORE I STOP 1993 - BAT OUT OF HELL II : BACK INTO HELL (all songs by Steinman) 1995 - WELCOME TO THE NEIGHBORHOOD (2 songs by Steinman) 1998 - LIVE AROUND THE WORLD 1996/1997 2003 - COULDN'T HAVE SAID IT BETTER (3 songs by Steinman) 2006 - BAT OUT OF HELL III : THE MONSTER IS LOOSE (most songs by Steinman) 2010 - HANG COOL TEDDY BEAR 2011 - HELL IN A HANDBASKET 2016 - BRAVER THAN WE ARE (most songs by Steinman)

Meat Loaf was born Michael Aday and was a big fella from Texas who played football in high school and got called 'Meat' by his coach (hence the name) ... but his real love was singing in theater. His politics were right-wing garbage... but his voice and music was undeniable. He first rose to fame in the 70's after his debut album 'Bat out of hell' in 1977 would sell 14 million copies in the US alone and was a huge hit worldwide by fusing rock music w/ opera (Granted, this was written around the same time Queen wrote 'Bohemian rhapsody') Meat Loaf moved to California and worked the Broadway theater scene as a stage performer & singer in the 70's ... He met songwriter/ composer Jim Steinman and they collaborated on making what became 'Bat out of hell'... but the music industry was not interested for years... Meat Loaf eventually got cast in the musical movie 'The Rocky Horror picture show'... and it became a box office hit in 1975. Meat Loaf also worked singing on rock records by Ted Nugent and performing in his solo band. Despite setbacks, Meat Loaf and Jim Steinman worked on 'Bat out of hell' since 1972 and finally got a record label to sign them in 1977 to record the album. Released that year, it exploded in popularity as songs like - 'Bat out of hell' ... "Two out of three ain't bad" ... 'You took the words right out of my mouth'... became radio hits. However, Metal Loaf's vocal issues delayed the next album until 1981 ... 'Dead ringer' (written by Jim Steinman again) was not as popular, despite selling platinum... but the commercial disappointment led to Meat Loaf going bankrupt as his label turned on him to collect their debt and he could not release a record in the USA for a decade. He still recorded and toured overseas to keep his career alive... In 1993, Meat Loaf and Jim Steinman reconciled after a split in the 80's and delivered the sequel album 'Bat out of hell II: Back into hell'... it went to #1 on the charts and became a massive comeback record selling 5x platinum in the US w/ this single and other songs like "Rock n' roll dreams come through'... 'Objects in the rear view mirror'... etc. Subsequent Meat Loaf albums were not as successful... 'Welcome to the neighborhood' in 1995 sold platinum (1 million copies) in the US... w/ the singles - 'Not a dry eye in the house' ... "I'd lie for you (and that's the truth)" ... and others after sold less... A 3rd album "Bat out of hell III: The Monster is loose" was written without Jim Steinman (but did have some of his songs) and released in 2006... but was not as commercially successful. Both Meat Loaf and Jim Steinman were struggling w/ health issues and decided to make 1 more album in 2016 - 'Braver than we are'... and it was Meat Loaf's last record... Jim Steinman passed away in 2021 and Meat Loaf passed away soon after in 2022.

Cut parts from the music video: Will you hold me sacred? Will you hold me tight? Can you colorize my life I'm so sick of black and white? Can you make it all a little less old? I can do that Oh oh now i can do that Will you make me some magic with your own two hands? Can you build an emerald city with these grains of sand? Can you give me something I can take home? Now I can do that Oh now I can do that Will you cater to every fantasy I got? Will you hose me down with holy water, if I get too hot! (HOT)? Will you take me places I've never known? Now I can do that Oh, oh now I can do that! After a while to forget everything It was a brief interlude and a midsummer night's fling And you'll see that its time to move on I won't do that I won't do that

Oh Aileen, if you like musical theatre, you're going to LOVE Meatloaf. He started off in theatre before going into rock music and his sense of drama (both on stage and off) is legendary. The late Jim Steinman, who wrote all Meatloaf's music, was a fantasic songwriter. There is SO much content in the lyrics: they're like little novels full of clever imagery, call-backs and wordplay. You really can't go wrong with anything he did, but Bat Out Of Hell is a must, as is Paradise By The Dashboard Light. The latter is also bloody funny, being a cynical take on "fairy-tale" romance.

This was one of the best reactions to this iconic songs I've ever seen. Like all you tubers, you're aware of yourself being watched (that is not a criticism). And, like all you tubers reacting to this video, you start forgetting you're being observed shortly before she starts to sing. And then she starts and you're all in. Brought tears to my eyes, just like it did the first time I ever heard the song. Thankyou.

"For Crying Out Loud" from the first Bat Out of Hell album is one of the greatest love songs ever written and sooooo underrated. it has the epicness of Anything for Love, and Meat REALLY shows off his vocal skill. Just be prepared to pause your recording.... if Anything For Love choked you up, For Crying Out Loud will make you weep.... it still does for my black heart, to this day...

My funniest story about this video, is the girl in it is an Italian model ( I forget her name). After the video dropped, she was getting recording contract offers, but she can't sing.

And Meatloaf was a Captivating performer! Did theater in his shows. Amazing talent. Also the woman is a model/actress. She was originally only gonna Lip Sync but Meatloaf asked if she'd be willing to try her vocal 1st. She did and bam perfection. He's like will you sing this with me She was shocked and couldn't believe it. They became close friends.
