Netflix would have contract with MeatEater that it holds distribution rights for X amount of time, and when that’s over, the distribution rights return to MeatEater. It’s much better than Netflix having permanent distribution rights and just deciding not to host it anymore due to bandwidth vs views and so just shelving it.

The fellow commenters are exactly right. I started hunting in 2019 in my late 30s with no family or friends that hunt. Shows like this, as well as Steve's books, have been a HUGE inspiration. Just get out there and do it. Last year, in only my second year hunting, I got 3 deer, 3 turkeys, a goose, and some squirrels. I attribute a lot of it to Steve and the whole Meateater crew.

As a Native Idahoan, and 28 yr hunting guide I really appreciate two points you made in this video, No 1. you have a 400 yd shooting cap. In a time when so many mature bulls and bucks are killed a long range, it's good to hear a hunting influencer keeping it "fair chase". No 2, you took the rib, neck, and shank meat. Good on you! I can't believe it's legal to waste that meat here in ID. Congrats on a beautiful buck! Keep up the good work.

Now this is how a real hunter reacts to shooting a good deer. He just observes it, then walks to it and respects the animal, then is glad in his good fortune and the meat that will feed his family. Dude! Dandy, unique, mature. I truly am happy for you Steve. Your path to that buck, through the years, could almost be summed up as one long hunt. You were at that point of desperation where we all get on a tough hunt sometimes. Feeling like we aren't going to see anything. Whether it be a mature or even a legal buck. Only you were talking about your search for that one buck. I thought that was poetic and somewhat ironic. 😊 I have shared this with all my buddies. Started hunting a year ago and killed my first and only deer. This year i plan on hitting it a lot harder and looking for some bigger bucks. I come from a family that does not hunt and did not grow up in this passion. It is challenging learning all that needs to be known by yourself but i will continue chasing that feeling i had when i walked up on that little spike buck last year. The off season hunting has really grown into a huge passion of mine and i am waiting with baited breath until hunting season. Part of the reason i went in the first place is because of Steve and Cal's passion for hunting and the outdoors. I can definitely say now i am a lifer when it comes to hunting.
