@The Visiting Soul Bro you didn't get my point Firstly you have to define what actually pain is Pain is a defence mechanism nothing more than that, we feel pain to avoid or become aware of something going wrong, in humans and animal we have pain receptors on our body which sends signal to our brain and it's our brain which simulates the sensation of pain, pain is just a neurological response which results into sensation Before surgery doctor gives anesthesia which inhibits the signals of pain receptors to reach brain, and then even if dr cuts the hand the patient would feel nothing Painkillers also works on the same concept, it doesn't cure the injured area by any means it just inhibits the signals from pain receptors which reduces the sensation Now atleast you know that pain is just a defence mechanism Plants also have response to damage and even defence mechanisms which is also "pain" in a nutshell, but the way plants perceive pain isn't the same as we perceive the pain (a neurological simulation) because we are completely different beings than plants and enforcing the idea that the way we perceive pain is the only true pain and other form of pain in beings which are different from us is non existent isn't fair by any stretch of imagination

I was vegan for 4 yrs just about but when I became Muslim due to meeting my fiancé, I understood the reason of animals and their purpose. I do not eat meat all the time. Maybe here and there and dairy occasionally but I seriously was not irrational like these close minded people. Now I do not feel guilty eating an animal product as long as it is Halal of course and definitely exploitation of Human life bar far outweighs cows and pigs since Humans are one of Allah's greatest creation ...

The key argument here is "murder is wrong". Because raping and stealing don't really apply to how we normally deal with animals. We know that murder is wrong, by definition, as you consciously kill someone without justification. When you kill someone on accident, then it's not called murder. When some lunatic is executed for the crime of kidnapping innocent people and killing them in his basement, then he is not being murdered, but executed. Every murder is by its very definition wrong. But not every killing is an immoral, unjust act that necessitates (severe) punishment. So this guy uses this word "murder" for that reason; and then equates the killing of animals to the immoral and unjust act of murdering another human being. It also implies that killing an animal for consumption should have legal consequences, just as the act of murdering another human being has legal consequences. If it's murder, then punishment is justified. To kill another animal for consumption is not called murder. If it's murder, then every time any animal kills and eats another animal, they are murdering. The oceans are filled with murderers. Most fish kill and eat other fish, after all. If a person is starving and they happen upon a chicken, then they claim it's ok for the person to kill and eat the bird. So he's saying that murder is fine if it's necessary for survival. Those are some of the problems with labeling the killing of animals as "murder". That's fine: he can take it back and just use "killing" instead of "murdering", and he can simply argue that people shouldn't consume meat, because they don't really need to in today's modern society. If that's the message, then I see nothing wrong with that. We probably eat to much meat anyway, and the Prophet(saw) didn't consume a whole lot of meat, according to the tradition. Many (if not most) additional reasons or arguments are problematic in one way or another. Plants also experience suffering and pain, which has been proven. I mean, why'd you think plants have defensive mechanisms like thorns and poisonous substances? They have some kind of awareness of an external world, and they have awareness of their own selves, which is why they respond to external threats. So it's really rather obvious that plants experience these things, in their own 'plant ways' of course. Flesh-eating plants are just ironic in this context.

Dear Brother Mansour, I’m Muslim and Plantbased because 1st. Islam forbids torturing of animals 2nd. The teachings of Islam is not to harm oneself as Allah said in Sura Araf:(for he commands them what is just and forbids them what is evil; he allows them as lawful what is good). If we look at today’s food it all comes from factory farms where they breed animals in awful conditions and inject them with antibiotics and growth hormones in addition to other chemicals which when humans eat causes all kinds of chronic and fatal diseases like cancer and heart diseases. If you choose to eat farmed animals that breeds natural and consume it in moderations unlike what everyone is doing animals for breakfast lunch and dinner and in between them that would be okay. I actually decided this week to not eat an animal unless I know they were treated properly. I used to try and get organic grass fed halal meat but even that I cant trust anymore. When I study the Wali's of Allah may Allah be pleased with them, I always read that the first and most important first step is to make sure your putting halal in your body. I feel that if an animal has not seen sun or been able to walk on grass it doesnt matter if its halal, these things would make the animal suffer and the food they produced for us would also be full of suffering. To me we need to be very careful what we contribute especially when it comes to suffering.
