I’ve been tinkering with a Mecha’thun Mage in wild. The combo is Mecha’thun, freeze him, then snap freeze or shatter. You use emperor t for at least one tick and galvanizer to ensure a second on Mecha’thun. The list I made is a reno/kazakus list with a lot of freeze mage tools, subject 9 package, and curator package. Maybe try something like that, it seems pretty decent, not crazy good, but really cool!

I find the quest-less version slightly better. I have a 90% WR against all control decks (except no fun Warlock) and very good matchups against Paladin (87% WR) and Zoo (60% WR). But as usual, it is weak against spell Hunter, Odd Rogue and Burn Mage (all under 50% WR)

Because he can't. If he played a minion, Mecha'thun would have killed the taunt and survived with 1 hp and the reckless experimenter would have then suicide on the played minion, leaving only Mecha'thun on the board.

He wanted to play the taunt minion to take less face damage. Thing is, if he didn't heal the Reckless Experimenter, the minion could have killed himself on the Scarab Beetle, leaving only Mecha'Thun on the board. The aim was to stall in the hope to find something in the deck to get rid of Mecha'Thun while the Reckless Experimenter was still alive.
