Storms got hit with a minor nerf and the fire tech will be less widespread. I like it. Would have preferred a buff to the anti-missile systems but this works.

I think I'd rather the weaker units be buffed rather than the meta units be hit with the nerf bat. Maybe it's just a psychological thing, but it feels like there's double nerfs every patch (HP and Tech or ATK and Tech). I'd much prefer the devs to nerf just one thing, buff one thing on the counter unit or something.

The game is more or less balanced as it is with a few strong (but not impossible) meta builds. I think the balance in this patch is a bit of a catch-all from all the comments in the last two months. It may be a bit too much

​@@stoneymechabellum Yeah I don't think the game is unbalanced overall, it's more people in general don't like their 'meta' strategies just completely trash canned. It does feel like the same units are constantly changed on the patch notes though!

The catch is that if you buff an underpowered unit, people still might not use it and the buff may be for nothing if that unit's weakness isn't really what made the OP unit OP. Nerfing the gamebreaker is really just a more direct solution, since everyone will want to use the OP unit and degenerate the game into a contest of who can best use the OP unit.

Subsidized Phoenix card seems close to good. You can now get a 70% stat Phoenix for 200 (card+unlock+buy) as opposed to a Phoenix 200 regular (unlock+buy-cardskip). If you get 2 or more the math really starts to work out. If there is a case where you would buy 2 elite marksmen for 250 you could potentially buy 2 subsidized pheonix for 300 and have 70% of the damage, but double the targeting(4vs2), and double the potential player damage as well as potentially forcing out anti-air. The damage cut is not really a huge issue since a lot of damage is lost to overkill.

I can see this used to great effect with quantum assembly, range and EM. Carry phoenix meta incoming?

@@stoneymechabellum I only play FFA currently. Assembly+EM+Range(+shield) is strong there since critical mass can reliably stall and beat bosses. The nice thing about assembly is that it tends to recall the new phoenix to a less exposed position. That means later on a WF in the back with Pheonix spawn or a stalled late pheonix can be used save assembly. I suspect the issue in 1v1 is that phoenix are terrible against chaff and wasps. The upside is that with those techs is that only one or two of the phoenix packs need to be ranked up, the rest are strong as disruption and reassembly points. You might be able to pull off a wide phoenix carry if you add jump drive and pair with good chaff clear. Maybe with those techs mustang(or fang)+storm(or vulcan or tarantula)+phoenix could work. If you were to go carry phoenix that is 1050 in techs I think you would need have +6 packs of them on the field to justify that number of techs.

Yeah combat power mostly goes up while mmr can go up or down

It does. It's a very specific suggestion that came up a few times in discord and I think the devs are experimenting on. Good outcome: low mmr player hides so high mmr players won't skip games Bad outcome: high mmr players skip all the games (no mmr or low mmr)
