Mechabellum - Bulletproof Forts

Our final game in this week's tournament! We're going up against Cast_ a great player, he streams over at / cast_mb and recently won the Dreamhack Mechabellum showcase tourney. He's off to a flying start with a Quick Supply specialist, can we catch back up or will we fall too far behind the tempo?

Nice work 👍 Cast is a great player - I watch his matches from time to time. He's been practicing speed rounds lately as I think he sometimes gets into the habit of thinking for 70-80 seconds and blasting all his board changes in the remaining seconds. You played really solid in this tournament! Nice 👍

Haha, thanks! People always underestimate the humble Fang - when they're busy focusing on the big scary Forts and the annoying Phoenixes. Wish the game had a DPS meter - the data is all there but you've got to click on each unit one by one - so I could prove to people how powerful Fangs can be!

Spending this rounds money next round, is maybe a way to get to spend the money with the knowledge of what the opponent did with theirs. The tactic is a complex topic as you ofcourse trade something for this forsight, but in theori it could help a tempo swing. VIDEO GAME STRATEGI IS SOO COOL :D:D:D (Ty for vid, loved it

Yeah - I can see the advantages from setting up a big swing turn, and sitting on 200 for the first found isn't a huge deal. It just feels like a missed opportunity to get some unit's exp bar rolling, deny enemy units exp and a bit more player damage in to boot. But the only round that matters is the last one so there's pros and cons for sure, can defo see it!

Another amazing game watching the clash of titans while the ground battle is fought under their shadow. It always seems like Fortress is insanely strong, but I rarely see melting points dropped to try and get to them. I think if your opponent went fire rockets like you thought they might the Melting Points could have done some work. I don't know what else could have even scratched the paint on that sheer wall of metal. Edits on point making sure I don't miss a beat. Wishing you the best of luck and all the Sledgehammers.

Thanks dude! And yeah Melting Point will bring any giant to it's knees, even a mighty War Factory! So long as you have enough chaff and chaff clear to back them up, if you see Fortress on the opposite side then Melting Point is normally a safe bet.

Out of curiosity, does anyone know why most of the youtubers playing mechabellum do not use the in game music? Most either out their own on or, more commonly, just have it with only the sound effects

The music does get kinda boring after +1000 in game hours

It does get a little repetitive after a while and one of the game's music tracks (specifically the tournament music after a game ends) seems to have a temporary right's holder license. Which could result in the license holder revoking the license and copyright striking every video containing it. It would probably cost the company that made that music their entire income stream as no game would ever incorporate their music again but it's still scary when you see the Content ID match for that track pop up. I've started overlaying other music over that section of the videos so that if it does happen I wont be at risk. 3 Copyright strikes and your channel is deleted, all videos lost. So we have to be veeeeery careful. Always make sure you're well within Fair Use for short clips and if content ID marks something pay close attention.

Personally I love the music and not having any to me feels miserable mostly, while overlayed tracks may have a very different feeling from the base game - especially since the game has a track for the building and one for the battle phase. Yeah, really excited - big 4 player free for all changes too. I haven't made any videos on that mode but I really enjoy it as a chillout and relax game mode.

Also, they were so polite the majority hated each other to death. Hypocrisy prevailed. Japanese culture feels so wrong and yet, they believed and that power of belief was so strong they could sacrifice themselves without a blink.

Shogun highlighted how alien the culture of that period is to me. Still think politeness is worth the price of admission, it takes barely any effort to acknowledge our opponent and remind both them and ourselves that we're playing a game for fun. Nobody's livelihood is on the line so we can relax and enjoy it :D

@@Drone_101 We can agree on that indeed, often these games can be very toxic, with kids yelling at each other. But that's a little bit more leaning towards bigger teams and not 1v1.

Nice! Thanks for the suggestion. I've been debating putting Armor on my Overlord to match my Forts, would really help them fight uphill into mass Fang or Mustang. It's tough though - there's so many good techs for Overlord, Photon Emission feels like a must pick, and I often run them as my top end carry with Launcher Overload and Range which only leaves one slot remaining for either Mothership to produce Wasps, Overlord Artillery for a shot that can ignore Anti-Missile tech if War Factories come out, or Armor as you suggest. Still - thinking about swapping it in and seeing how it feels though.
