We don't normally do presale inspections but we did this one because they wanted a volvo penta technician to check over the engines and other systems. We always recommend getting a survey before buying a boat. DON'T DO AS WE DO .... full disclosure. LOL.

Matt loves that punch bug so much! It must be wonderful to endure that every time, even when totally going out of the way for it on his birthday 🎂 🥳 It comes across so well in the videos the sheer amount of joy it gives him every single time. I wish I had a wife as emotionally connected with my feelings as Matt has.

The yellow line is the shore power cord. The white beads guide the cord into a basket. The system is called Cable Master.

It's amazing how clean a lot of the engine rooms or compartments are that yall work on and the Zeus drives are fun lol I have only seen one, but I never worked on it, lol 😆 and looking around 20k for that computer diagnostic tools lol 😆 and Matt just buy a battery lol

@@WillFixThat oh wow ok I was wrong. My snap-on scanner it was almost 16k when i worked on big trucks and cars and small trucks lol 😆 and I hope yall are going to make an IPS video. I would love to see how it's done!

@@honeybunbandit1it was a big job …. Not much fun in it since it takes a lot of time and guys! Stressful job our forklift was 1 inch from the boat next to us a few times. Matt & Mel did great communicating to get it out & installed! Hard also working on dirt. Yes videos to come.

What do you consider high hours on say a sport fish with duel diesel engines? How old would a boat be to be considered an "old" or "older" boat?

depends on the engines most stuff around 5000 hours starts to get worrisome but not all. also depends on how often the boat is used and how quickly the hours are accumulated. lehman vs cummins 12v, vs cat 3208 etc are all very different animals. then 🫣mtus MAN volvo...etc watch out

I’d say 10-12 years and 1200-1500 hours. A lot depend on condition and if hourly maintenance was done.

Pull the dipstick tube tip holder off the dipstick , it pop off The your sample tube will easily slide in.

Its possible to get the software for pretty much free and use different interface's for all the boat manufacturers. Volvo VIDA with the cars is a pain of a software to use when compared to xentry for Mercedes or ISTA for BMW. I am a geeky mechanic and have been dealing with Diag, programming and cloning modules for many years now. Keys are always fun too:) If you google around there are many ways to access on board diag and many times they use a standard protocol for the simpler stuff and programming passthrough u can read with a super simple cheap cable.

We haven’t tried clone software… maybe some you can. We have the vodia software don’t think you can clone it. It comes in its own box

the reason we try fix power tool batteries I suggest is because we know we are all being screwed over by the manufacturers and their proprietary systems, along with the scammers who sell terrible non oem alternatives. Stabbed in the back and the front. On top of that lithium is way way cheaper than it used to be, battery prices are tumbling, but these manufacturers continue to gouge the consumer with no help from the authorities despite it being obviously a rort. That’s my rant for the day, another great video

Jet Engines do not use different metals for there bearings they have magnetic plugs for different bearing compartments

Yup, some even have fuzz burn so u can burn off any metal and see if the alarm comes back.

I am up in Georgia and the weathermen here are wrong most of the time too. That also goes for when I was iin California and it was pouring rain and they said 10 percent chance. I am more accurate than any of them. I go outside and already know more than they do.

The design of that pod irritates the bejabbers out of me. Engineers and designers must remember this stuff needs to be maintained, the more difficult routine checks are, the fewer times it will be done or the more time consuming and expensive or the more expensive the work will be.

@@WillFixThat it’s about serviceability of the PODS is the main problem and of having qualified techs to understand them is even moved exhausting. The last thing, is it’s old technology that needs to be faded out and go with a synced shaft drive that operates bow thrusters together. The technology is there, but for the salinity of our waters, less is more in those waters.
