Mechanical adjustments to make the hot rod FASTER 💨

We're going flathead racing again at Pinetree Jamboree and the event is 2 weeks away. Jolene's top speed last summer was 57 mph and her goal this summer is to hit 60 mph so Nathan is making some mechanical adjustments to make the hot rod faster. We're going to weld the rear end to make it posi-track so that the back wheels don't spin at the line 💨
Pinetree Jamboree is September 15-17 and is held at the Winterport Dragway in Maine! 🏁

Just getting some good oil in the diff , trans and engine should gain Jolene the three miles per hour ! Happy Birthday Chad ! Jolene your work on the camera is Awesome ! I would say with all the fixes you should do at least 63 miles per hour !!! Nathan looks to be a great help to the crew .

Especially with the fuel right at the front too 😬. Can just imagine what it could look like in a disaster. Even if Chad just riveted a thin sheet of aluminium to the fiewall and seam sealed the edges would be better than nothing. Cheap way to hugely improve safety for Jolene.

Just a thought, and someone else may have already said this, but would a third or even four hinges be a good idea for the door? Asking because its going to be a heavy door in itself and then add the weight of people climbing in and out. Just a thought. I love this build. Great Job Chad and Jolene!

Wow, Bad Chad on the camera. Jolene sure isn't afraid of that car. Happy Birthday Chad, wishing many more for you. Wouldn't it be easier for Jolene to speed shift if the shifter was shorter? Tune that engine a little bit more (new points, plugs, condenser etc) maybe throw in a high performance coil and fiddle with the timing advance and dwell angle. Do all or some of this and I'm positive you'll get a lot more than 60, maybe all the way to 62!! Maybe putting in some larger carb jets would help as well.

I think another reinforced area at the bottom would be good if you step on your sheet. A hydronic like a trunk with a small motor would allow remote control with an easy soft close. Also then you can use a key control to lock with no projections..nice and clean

Especially if the gas pedal cable is not letting the carb open all the way and he fixes it. Plus the better that Nate gets it running the faster it will be. Welding up the differential like that has been called a "Lincoln Locker". The name came about from using a Lincoln welder, hence...Lincoln Locker. With the fluids taken care of I predict more than 60 mph 👍

That car is a drag trap as far as being a race car. Have a perforated firewall is asinine I don’t care how cool it might look or how fast the car is or isn’t. That serves a purpose and that is keep the occupant(s) protected in the event of an engine fire which happens a lot on race cars. Talk to someone like Lyle Barnett and you might change your tune. You constantly obsess over Jolene but a person could so easily get pinned in that thing and you’d barbecue her, the car’s already had to get out of because you have to get in and out though the roof.
