In this video, I wanted to share my thoughts on mechanical engineering and what you can potentially do with the degree. I make the point to emphasize the importance of the skill sets that you gain from pursuing that degree, rather than the degree itself.
Hope I was able to start a conversation. Feel free to leave any comments down below. thanks!
Thank you

hey, thanks for your video. I am mechanical engineer too and have been working as a sales engineer for 15 years and I want to do something different now. My interests are either Software Testing or IT recruiter, but I am open to other IT related possibilities too if you have any. My main problem is , that I somehow need to build on my existing sales experience otherwise I will get a huge paycut on my new junior position job salary. Do you have any tips?

Could you make a video on skill sets for remote positions? Currently a production supervisor in an aerospace position. Love the job, but want a hybrid or remote position instead

Interesting point. But I am not sure if I have the experience to cover that topic. I can maybe reach out to people I know to get an idea and relay the message in a video

What skills/short courses should I do in order to be a more competitive candidates when applying in mining companies or gas and oils companies after finishing my mechanical engineering degree?
@GodfredTech
@GodfredTech 10 ай бұрын
I am not sure if I know the answer completely. But I would say the best bet in this case (being competitive in the oil and gas industry) is internship experience. I think courses can only take you so far

Hey im a mech engineering student currently in s3 and my college offers me minor in cs as three buckets ( software programming, networking and machine learning ) which one should i take, and i am not intrested in sitti g in front of a computer all day long, i need some action. I have some intrest in robotics, aero and automotive industries. Did an internship at KMML titanium dioxide plant and realized such chemical related plants or industries is not my thing ( it slowly kills you) skin diseases, cancers, lung issues etc. So my actual question is which bucket should i opt for my minor
@GodfredTech
@GodfredTech 6 ай бұрын
Very good question, unfortunately with the first option in the bucket (software engineering) you will find yourself sitting and coding most of the time. I would say , this is very much the case for remote work but for onsite, it won’t be that bad because you will interact with people and move around for meetings (You will have more meetings than you expect on the job) . But I would ask, what do you want to do for your career? You can’t go wrong with either options in the bucket as long as you are willing to tolerate the bad part of the job (which every job has)

I was wondering if I can be a biomedical engineer or an aerospace engineer with a mechanical engineering degree
@GodfredTech
@GodfredTech Жыл бұрын
Aerospace Engineer, definitely yes. I am not too sure about biomedical engineer. The track for Aero and MechE are not too dissimilar. Also depending on your school, you should be able to fill your electives with Aero classes (if you still have time) This will allow you to have a strong resume fit for Aero jobs
@lawofrobotics
@lawofrobotics Жыл бұрын
You can do either, ME can go almost anywhere in the industry just make sure you line up your projects/extracurriculars to the specific niche/sub engineering branch.

Maybe… But I would find jobs in Defense Technology and see what kind of skills sets those jobs require first (you can look for some on linkedIn) and then plan your masters program accordingly.

If I decide to switch to computer engineering how much more school am I looking to add on??
@GodfredTech
@GodfredTech Жыл бұрын
That depends on when you decided to make that switch in your undergrad career. Assuming that is when you are making that switch, you can potentially add more time to your school and graduate 1 year later

Hello sir I just completed watching your video. My doubts are what does the job market for computational engineers look like in the U.S after completing masters in the same for Asian(Iam Indian by the way). Also as a mechanical undergraduate myself, Iam looking to pursue a masters in mechanical engineering, according to you which major in mechanical engineering pays you the most and which has the lowest potential of being replaced in the future by technology? Iam asking this because a lot of people around me are asking to pursue a technical field for masters like data science or analytics of some sort. Your reply will be very valuable to me. Thank you.

I changed from aerospace to Machanic, but now I am thinking about nano. Do you have any suggestions?

I think this is really dependent on your interests. Also have to keep in mind the job opportunities for both fields. Nano is very specific, so you may have an easier time getting a job with an Aerospace degree

Don’t to scared , you will be able to find a job with an engineering degree! And the skills sets you focus on will depend on the type of job you want to do. So it’s always best to start there (know what type of jobs you want to do) and work backwards as it will guide what skill sets you can focus on during undergrad

Hi I am first year mechanical student but I want to be computer programmer .Has computer coding field in mechanical enginnering?I am not interested in machine but I interest in coding?Please answer sir😢
@GodfredTech
@GodfredTech 8 ай бұрын
If you want to code and are not interested in machines, then I would say switching to Software engineering is the best way to go. Yes, you may find yourself doing some coding in Mechanical Engineering but that is only a minor aspect of it. So since your interests lie in coding. You should switch if possible (assuming you just started your first year).

Hello! If I understand correctly, you are deep into your ME career and want to focus on one topic. In that case, I think going with the subjects that you get the highest grades in will be a good bet since that MAY mean, you will excel at it. So I would double down on those subjects and start looking for the career roles that require those skillsets and go from there.
