Demonstration of a mechanism to drive many degrees of freedom from only two motors, with the constraints that only one motor may be moved at a time, and the position must be quantized to a half-turn when switching axes.
Currently the 7 axes currently do nothing, but it with a complex transmission (most likely bowden cables) it could drive a 6-axis robot with gripper, for example.

You guys ever consider using venturis? I use them at work where I install chemical proportioning dispensers. The water pressure creates suction that pulls concentrated chemicals and mixes with the water at a predetermined concentration.
@Schwuuuuup
@Schwuuuuup 2 жыл бұрын
@@AliHSyed you don't want the cocktail ingredients mixed with water, and other media create their own complications. I guess when all you do is to create flavored Rum (or whatever) you could use a venturi to infuse the flavor. I Settled on some kind of siphon effect, I blow compressed air in a bottle to press out the fluid via a tube. Problem is, you can't measure the amount of fluid very well. So I planned to hook up a digital scale. But live happened and the product never went into testing

WRONG!!!!! That's not what a multiplexer does. A multiplexer has ONE output and many inputs.
@OwenWithAHammer
@OwenWithAHammer 2 жыл бұрын
@@protoborg That's the opposite of a multiplexer, and even then you're wrong. A multiplexer is a machine that converts inputs and energy, into a greater number of outputs. It can have as many inputs and outputs as you want, as long as the ratio is positive. I've designed a continuous mechanical multiplexer, it executes all of its outputs simultaneously and continuously, all at once without any stops. I will hopefully build it soon, sorry for the wait. The trick is, instead of having that input motor (as opposed to the setup motor) directly control the output, you make mechanical memory cells (like a rubics cube with gears), and you send those data cells into a cache, which eventually loads into the execution unit, which essentially writes the data to the outputs. With this you could hypothetically make a 24hz TV out of gears lol.

I designed/made a lego mindstorms 'multiplexer' that used 1 motor to fire/raise/drop a lego cannon. The other two motors were dedicated to driving/steering. The multiplexer used a differential gear box and two ratchet mechanisms so that if the drive shaft turned one way, it would power one gear that fired the gun. If the drive shaft turned the other direction, it would raise the cannon until eventually it would reach a threshold and fall back to its lowest position.
@protoborg

That's NOT A FUCKING MULTIPLEXER!!! A multiplexer takes multiple inputs and produces a SINGLE output.

This is awesome. The only drawback I see is that the turns of each rotor must always be multiples of 1/2 turn. But I suppose that in a practical application this could be accompanied by reduction gears that adapt the movement to this situation. Great invention.
@jamiekawabata7101
@jamiekawabata7101 2 жыл бұрын
Yes, it is a drawback. I had tried to think of a mechanism that would allow finer increments, but none of my ideas seemed like they would work.

@@jamiekawabata7101 What you have made is, let's face it, beautiful. Perhaps the channel on each of the 7 axes, that the main drive connector slides into, could be made into a 'cross roads' for 90 degree turn precision. So where the channel is a '-' you could have a '+'. I suspect that for increasing precision of a motion on each of the 7 axes what you might do is some gearing reduction further on in the motion.

@@AhmadAboulFarag Technicaly if you think about it the solution is multiplexing instructions to solve a problem. Example: Operator originally wanted to control 7 motors. This would have been 7 separate commands sent out. Now they only use 2 commands to control all 7. Commanding 7 threads was multiplexed into 2 threads. Mulitplexing seems like the correct description. I see how the machine's actual "nature" is decoding what was multiplexed (demultiplexing), but I kinda like the idea that since it allowed the operator to multiplex.. it is therefore a multiplexer
