4:20 that folks happends once your diesel engine has a problem with the turbo. It pumps oil due to leak into the combustion chamber and burns it. It will rev to the max and kill itself due to heat. The only chance to save your car (in case it's a manual car) is to put it into a high gear while standing and drop the clutch. That will stall the engine. If you cannot do that, run! It WILL burn down. If you're lucky the engine will lock up, but don't rely on it.

as someone who works on similar equipment, that only lasting 2 hours is not normal, something has to be wrong with the battery at that point. if it works properly it IS cleaner than gas powered and gas generators ain't the only way to generate that power. I hate how the one in a thousand cases where some idiot doesn't take care of the electric vehicle/equipment and has to charge it through gas generator once in a while, which usually still is less emission, gets strawmanned against it as if it's a constant occurrence... don't get me wrong I prefer gas too, but strawmanning this is like strawmanning the guy with the smoke in the parking lot against all gas cars, use some proper arguments instead of strawmen..

I had a similar problem on a customer's car years ago. That was on BMW diesel engines. Oil from the axle of the turbocompressor used to leak on the admission. The engine is then, fueled with the engine oil. You can't do anything to stop the engine. This is quite a shitty situation.
@MrWolfSnack3 жыл бұрын
@@ulukai_555 It's called a runaway. It happens on any diesel engines that are not properly maintained and cared for. Anything that has a diesel engine from a tugboat to a freight train to a UPS truck to a forklift, or even in this case a VW Golf can be a victim of it. What happens is when your engine seals go bad the oil starts leaking into the turbo or the airbox and the engine just starts sucking oil into the block and it basically turbocharges it and it will be running off oil and get faster and faster and faster until the engine throws a rod and explodes violently. There was one case it happened to a semi where the entire engine block exploded into smithereens and it threw chunks of the engine block into peoples houses. Turning the engine off will not stop it either. You can stop a runaway diesel by suffocating the engine with a large rag or cloth (risky of total hand amputation or serious burns), or having a fire extinguisher and blasting the extinguisher into the turbo or airbox and it will smother it and gum up the pistons until they can't move. Yes you will have retardant and other crap in your engine and it will need to be cleaned out completely and reassembled again but you will save it from needing a complete rebuild and replacement like a hole in the block. If you're going to own a diesel you need to check your seals often and you need to be well aware of runaway situations. If he would have ran and grabbed the gas station's emergency extinguisher this would have been solved in less than a minute.

The ford losing power reminds me of two other fords one an F250 the other an F350. F250 the radio didnt come on half the time and the windows didnt work while it was off but there was a specific spot on the dash you could strike once and it would start working again. At some point i was in my friends f350 while he was plowing and was telling him about the f250 and, at speed, i slap the dash right where i do on the f250....the f350 stalls out. 250 was a 5.4, 350 was a 7.3

4:14 = Turbo running away... shove something into the turbo/intake to stop burning the fuel or let it blow up....? either way i reckon.
