I'm a little disappointed that Creo can't recognize the edges of the image and use an offset to create the sketch.

You were here for that too eh? If you still need, a program called "Inkscape" CAN do that!

a better way is to use an online converter to change your picture file (png / jpg / etc) into a dxf. open the dxf with creo and you've got yourself a traced image. stop wasting time sketching over pictures only to get crappy approximations
