I am 72, still mow and weedeat my big yard, still climb the ladder to get on my roof and get the limbs and leaves off, and still raise another of my grandchildren (he is 12 now). My mama always said " you can put on more than you can take off" and she was so right about that. There is nothing wrong with being a Daddy's girl. I was a Daddy's girl and I say it proudly. You were adorable talking about the blooms and tiny tomatoes in you plants. The excitement in your voice. It was like a child talking about Christmas Morning. I grew up with a big garden and you are right, there is a lot of work that has to be done, but it is worth every minute . Great video as always! Love the talk of courting and old vehicles and such! Brings back great memories for me, too! Can't relate to Daddy's girl talk though as had no real relationship with my father as he and Mom divorced when I was a baby! Only sporadic visits growing up. He never ever bought me a birthday or Christmas present! No dolls or bikes! 😪😥😥So you that had this were truly Blessed! Grandparents took up the slack, praise God! Y’all telling the stories about not knowing how to put the babies in car seats was hilarious! I can relate bc I was young too. I went to my mothers. My husband came too of course. But after two weeks he went home and said you can come home when you’re ready!!! It was hard bc she was so much help. It truly taught me a lot. Have you ever heard of the KZbin videos Gardening with Leon? He’s from Oklahoma. He’s 81 and knows more about gardening than anyone I’ve ever known. Raised beds, bucket and other alternatives to raised bed gardening. Take a look at his videos. You won’t be sorry. A fine man My husband had a 70 something model Chevy 2wd. I learned how to drive in that truck. It was a three speed on the column. I couldn’t drive it with him with me. He yelled at me too much. Happy Anniversary! Wishing you many more happy years! Congratulations folks on the anniversary. 28 years from now won't be so bad. We've been married 46 and still have our teeth. Tell Mat quite some years ago I had a 78 Nova Sprint, bored out engine, silver with black vinyl top. It had a lift in the back, oversized tires and cragar mag wheels. I still miss that old hotrod. First nice car I ever had and, in my mind, the best one. If you stepped on the gas you couldn't reach the dashboard. 90 miles an hour playing Johnny be Good.

@@CelebratingAppalachia you guys are too young to remember the super cars but when I hit my late teens gas was a dollar and a quarter a gallon and it seemed every car company was set on producing the coolest car with the biggest engine. My later to be brother in law had a Chevel SS, 396 engine, 4 barrel carb. One of my best buddys had an old dodge, baby blue, with a light cam and ultra large hemi engine. But the sweetest car I can remember was a reworked 57 Chevy, 396 engine and the works. Lemon yellow, black interior, chrome wheels with baby moon hubcaps. Looked like a yellow jacket with its tail on fire going down the highway. Screamed like a wildcat. You know it's a wonder that as many of us survived. Have a good day. Nostalgia got me goin'.

Great video. I moved our whole family to Richmond from New York about 9 years ago... and I just LOVE the southern climate and the long and beautifully sunny growing seasons. Gardening started off for me as just one of several hobbies (the others being music and also becoming an amateur machinist). But I believe we saved about 40-60 dollars this season just by harvesting the green sweet peppers from 2 lil' ol pepper plants we got at Lowes at the beginning of spring... which are now actually big pepper trees (almost as tall as me). They are massive and prolific. With the price of food and the price of new (and not so sturdy) cars today, I'm grateful that my parents taught me how to enjoy getting sweaty, dirty and tired and how to fix things that are broken and make things last and last and last. And speaking of lasting and lasting: A happy and blessed anniversary to you both. My wife and I just renewed our wedding vows after being married for 33 years. Enjoyed this! I use to have trucks back in the 80s, had old square body Chevrolet and GMC trucks. I loved my early to mid 80s trucks . Wish I had still had them . Great trucks . Like you tipper , I love all seasons , but also like matt I like summer the least . I guess because summer is so long here in the southern Appalachians, I just get tired of the heat a few weeks in. My daughter is a daddy's girl , always been hard for me to tell her no . I agree about when you live close to the land ,you notice everything, the little changes every day. Happy anniversary you 2 ! I so enjoy listening to you and Matt when y'all are taking y'alls popsicle break! Of course, I enjoy everything on yours & the girls channels. My hubby & I will celebrate our 47th anniversary in December! I was 17 & he was 18. We had it rough for the first few years but we've made it thru a lot. We married in 1975, I graduated in 1976, then we had our one & only son in 1981. I remember mama saying she got so tired of folks asking her if I was pregnant & that was the reason we got married! She finally asked someone if it was alright to get married if you loved someone?! We grew up in church together & our parents knew each others families. My older sisters & brother were born on June 12, April 12 & August 12, respectively in their years. I was born on September 10 & I guess I've been the oddball all my life! So, since I couldn't be born on the 12th, I decided I wanted to get married on the 12th! My oldest sister who is 17 years older got married one month after I was born! Nowadays, tho, from what I've seen, 17 & 18 yr olds are not really mature enough to get married. I sometimes wish we had waited but we've hung in there together by the grace of God & leaning on Him when times were hard. Now he's 65 & I'll soon be 64! The part I've not enjoyed has been when I became disabled. Then he became disabled in 2008. We've prayed for each other, cried & laughed with each other & have always been thankful for all God has blessed us with. I remember daddy saying, when we went to the courthouse for him to sign for me to get married, "yeah, all y'all wanted to do was ride to church together & sit together". Lol! Happy Blessed Anniversary to you & Matt! And yeah, we love old trucks too! Got a big ol yeller one in the driveway now with over 400,000 miles on it! It's a Chevy & still going strong! Happy Anniversary! I agree with Matt about the heat. It’s much easier to stay warm than stay cool. I do NOT like summer! Tipper, you’ve got me hooked on the coconut popsicles. They taste like a frozen coconut cream pie!

I was always my daddy's girl till he passed on Christmas day 2014 I held his hand. It broke my heart. We were Buttons and Bows the clowns and daddy was Santa before I was even born. People who know me here call me Santa's daughter!! Surely miss him but I wa s blessed to have him till he was 95!!! Mom was 96 and I held her as she passed. I kept her her last 2 1/2 years!! I do enjoy your videos!! Happy anniversary 💕 🎉

Tipper, I do enjoy these posts of you and the Deer Hunter eating popsicles and talking/planning the garden! There is a wonderful ease about it! You sure do manage to produce a lot to not actually have a garden. I will be interested in seeing what you do to eliminate the grass. I know the Deer Hunter hates grass and always has!

Happy Anniversary! You guys celebrate anniversaries like we do...pretty much doing what we always do...my husband likes the old vehicles too, for the same reason Matt does. Once we tried to trade my old car for a newer version, but the salesman would only give us $50 for the trade-in. That made Cliff mad, so we brought it home and gave it to our middle boy to use. It ran for the next 4 years while he got his Bachelor's degree. Cliff was a ranch mechanic for many years, so he always kept our vehicles running.
