MECHANICS | BOOK RECOMMENDATIONS | JEE | OLYMPIADS | MY FAVORITE BOOKS

This video lists out some excellent text books on mechanics for JEE Physics Teachers looking forward to expand their horizon a little beyond JEE. Some of the books might be relevant to some very sharp students as well. The best would be that teachers extract the Gems from these books and deliver to their students according to their needs and capabilities.
For Sharp students if I have to recommend one book out of these, it would be "Introduction to Classical Mechanics" by David Morin.

Sir i am using SBT + ALLEN Material and ALLEN RACE. Is this a good combination? I am not doing Irodov as SBT has covered all types of problems I think (What do you think sir?). Please guide me sir.

It will definitely be beneficial, however I personally believe that Irodov should be a must do book for every JEE aspirant.

Second thought… I think there is some missing info in the problem. Coefficient of friction is not given… if the answer is independent of μ answer to this problem should be same as that to build 1

Sir Doing SBT without Irodov and Krotov is Better Option ? Please Tell me Sir....

It will still be a good option though in my personal opinion, Irodov is a must do book for developing strong fundamentals. (Not doing krotov is still fine).

Try to give 2 hours daily for physics problem solving (If you are not able to do all the four sections of pf may be you can just do up to Build YU or atleast MCQ). Watching Solution Videos Will not be sufficient at all... Hands on practice is the way to go...

Sir there was a lot of confusion regarding whether KVL is applicable for RC circuits or basically circuits with changing magnetic fields...what are your views on this and a convincing verdict would be good...I know that both applied as per procedure give same result but which one is accurate?

Will try to do a Video on this one. It depends on how we see KVL. If we take voltages as integrals of conservative fields then by the definition itself KVL can never be violated. The confusion will start when we start calling EMFs as voltages. For a pure inductor the conservative and non conservative fields are exactly equal but opposite. So long as we are integrating only conservative field in the closed loops, KVL is always valid. (I remember Prof Walter Lewin saying that it is not valid but I need to watch his video again to understand what exactly he meant)

Thanks. Ken Riley/Hobson is also a great book (Infact in some ways more detailed that Mary L Boas). Though Mary L. Boas will be easier to follow and less exhausting. You can try converting MLB to a format suitable for your device.

Sure… at this stage it is perfectly fine to go with SBT. I recommend Solving of Irodov while learning the concepts for the first time.

Different teachers have different approaches. I prefer Irodov-> PF-> SBT.

Not at all... I don't recommend doing all these books either... they are generally suitable for teachers (or occasional reference by very sharp students).
