In This Video I have Presented an Interesting Problem of Finding the Profile of a shaft such that it has a constant stress at every cross section under the effect of its own weight and external load. A solid object of height H, having uniform density r and varying cross sectional area (which is circular) is placed on a frictionless surface as shown in the figure. Find the ratio of radii R1/R2 if it is known that compressive stress () remains same at every cross section. (on top surface stress is generated through some external uniform longitudinal loading)
