From a grinding brake (ignored warning) to 4 wheel full brakes including calipers and hoses and front axle shafts and rear bearings. That's why our stuff gets done last, you already know if you're in there might as well do it all. Hint-easy way to remove bearing races is to weld a bead around the inside face of the race, destroys heat treatment of race and knocks out much easier.

I agree. Have you been able to work on cars before? I used to back in the day but now that I moved I no longer have the tools. There are some great models that you could get and build. @jeffduncan9140 That was very helpful but when I tried to repair something on my 67 chevy truck I did not account for the fluids. I think I was changing the intake manifold maybe, and I mixed oil and water... IDR it was 20 years ago. Have you built any type of model recently? There is a bad ass gas engine that is so damn detailed! Donut was building it. The toys kids have now are wild. I would like an RC plane or a sub with a cam for live footage then and this would be ideal, hook it up to a VR headset so I could get the pov from the plane or sub as if I am behind the controls. Could you imagine flying around your neighbourhood with an RC and your view is just like a real plane? That would be dope. Lastly, have you seen the chemistry sets for adults. Everyone make the joke it would just be a dru9 lab but whatever. I would like to refine precious metals after I gain the full understanding how to do so. Let that pay for the other toys. What hobbies or interests are you into or would like to get into?

I am glad that most mechanics are this way. In the 90s, my dad was a mechanic at a Ford dealer, but our family cars always needed repair work. My wife will ask me why are you replacing this or that there's nothing wrong with it? My answer: because it's apart. I'm not paying twice to disassemble something and put it back together when I already have it apart because it's going to fail sooner or later. Logical. Yes I watched Star Trek and got my wisdom from Spock. And preventive maintenance is a better option than catastrophic failure and sitting on the side of the road.

@@clbcl5 To be fair, some people do not know to bleed the excess air from their tires when summer temperatures arrive. Tire pressure sensors report low pressure but I've yet to see one report high pressure. The tires on my truck are supposed to be inflated to 39 lbs. When there is a sudden temperature drop, properly inflated tires will read 39 lbs. in the evening when the temperature is in the 70's but read only 32 to 33 lbs. the next morning when the temperature is below freezing. Obviously, if the cold weather will persist, then the tires need air added to bring the pressure up to 39 lbs. However, when the temperature rises this "correct" 39 lbs. pressure at low temperatures will increase to nearly 50 lbs. The is an actual need to have tires adjusted to "summer air" pressures for ride stability and to prevent excess tire wear.

I welded many of late 80's Ford 1 ton rear axle tubes when the wedge came out of the plastic lined lock nut causing the floating axle to walk out of the tube , resting on the top key way edge and splitting the rear tube housing. We made a tool to close the split, weld crack from the inside of the tube and re thread saving the axle. Poor design.

I've learned quite a bit about working on cars that i wouldn't have known beforehand, which is great. I'm glad you share your work, and i'm glad your shop is doing well. I do have a question for you though. When you are almost finished with the expansion of the shop into the new bay, since you will have to have the new lift installed, have you considered if it might not be better to move the heaviest lift from the diagonal spot into the new bay? I figure for the largest vehicles having the bigger space to work on them might be easier, and if you have the smallest lift in the corner, small more maneuverable vehicles would be the easiest to get into that space, or so it seems.

Love the channel and content and I hate to correct you but your truck has a semi-floating rear axle and not a full floating as you stated. The axle has an integrated drive flange and that makes it semi floating. A full floating has splines on both ends of the axle shaft and the axle drive flange has mating splines. Keep up the good work!

No crime in not working on your own vehicle....it's normal that the painter drives a primered car ...the stereo guy drives a car with broken radio ...and the mechanic neglects timely maintenance on his own rig...

Isn't that why they installed radios. Who wants to hear grinding noises. Glad the more people say about using too much brake cleaner you use more. I would be doing the same.

When you replace the factory differential cover with the custom Banks cover, does that make your brake rotors last the life of the vehicle?

I do remember Lisle making an attachment for air hammers that is cupped on the business end. It's advertised as a hub assembly removal tool for Dodge hubs, but it looks like it would be perfect for driving those wheel lugs out.

Back in the day of vacuum television sets service was required about every 90 days on average. The one person whose TV set suffered the most was the technicians own set because he was so busy servicing everybody elses set. I suspect it is the same for many techs in many fields. Including yours.
