Ma'am in the video you had told that serotonergic neurons that lie in Dorsal raphe nucleus promote wakefulness (wake-on neurons)...but in the text of guyton it is written that.. serotonin help in sleep.... These two things are contradicting each other.... Can you plz clear this confusion ma'am?

Yes previously it was thought that it has sleep promoting rols but now it is found that its concentration is high during wakefullness. In case of controversy, go to book is Ganong that too most recent one

mam, I wanna ask about the adenosine one, is it inhibit the vlpo nrem-on neuron or is it activate them? because the effect of adenosine is sleep-inducing, I'm a bit confused how does in inhibit NREM-on neuron but the effect is sleep-inducing?? thank you, by the way, it's a very very helpful video, keep going, mam!
@PhysiologyOpen
@PhysiologyOpen 3 жыл бұрын
I think I have mentioned it inhibits the neuron which inhibits nrem neutrons...so it disinhibits nrem neuron...or else I will check the video and get back

Mam Pls make a clear note on adenosine once again Its confusing Adenosine inhibits VLPO, so maintaining awakeness Then how does caffeine on inhibiting adenosine keeps us on waking?
@PhysiologyOpen
@PhysiologyOpen 12 күн бұрын
Adenosine doesn't cause wakefulness...it promotes sleep..it's levels increase over the day (it's a metabolite)
