Map Tips #1 | Skyship 11 | Mech Arena

Mech Arena is not just about sheer firepower - tactics and battlefield cunning also impact the outcome as long as you have a clear goal and utilize the tools available. To that end, we’ve decided to create a new series called Mech Arena: Map Tips.
In this inaugural episode, we’ll cover positioning and strategy on the Skyship 11 map - ways to get the drop on your opponent, and some ways to protect yourself from sneak attacks.

kinda surprised the ramp areas on the sides of the central control point arent even mentioned. This is a good command/control position to be able to see targets (like lancer up top) and deal with crowds at the center with close to mid-range weapons. However, it can be easily countered by enemies who have splash weapons like disc launchers so you have to be aware of that and pull back when needed. Those on the bottom deck (like the zephyr and redox you mentioned) can also stun or hit it with their ability so you'll need to be aware of that, but you can also use those ability mechs from that spot to hit enemies below you. Guardians with disc launchers in this spot can do well to control the area and other bottom deck

Another area is between the barrier and the container just away from the central control point. From this area you can fire javelin racks right up to the middle of the center control control point. It does take practice not to hit overhead structure. The barrier also creates a camping spot to shoot anything trying to take the center with any straight shooting weapons.

It’s also a great spot to hide in the lower platform or anywhere on the map for that matter. Just hide there with zephyr or surge for their abilities to reload and go up and wreck havoc.

I usually use the red ramp at B as a defending position because you can pop out of cover and rain missile racks on the enemy, you're pretty much covered from javelin fire because of the roof above B but you are vulnerable to enemy rocket mortars.

My tip is also Lancer specific. You can jump from the lower deck to the rear of the deck and sneak a behind enemy lines attack or decap. All in all, one of the best maps for the Lancer.

I really like this I see a lot of players that aren’t aware or don’t understand tactics like this I would suggest that on most maps don’t rush for the middle beacon leave it and use it to hammer on your opponents

I think(as far as I'm concerned) I am one of the first player to used the ledge (the deck at 2:49 ) because, whenever I played with real players, none of them had the idea of using it, I was using/experimenting with Lancer and it's ability when I jump out onto the deck and started Javelin Rack fire on the opponents everytime I played in that map. I always, always used it and then one day, I was playing with this real player, and he too immediately goes for the deck which surprised me because I thought no one knows it, and believed it must've been influenced by me because from then on, whenever I played in that map, 70% of the players I've played with always goes on the deck side....😂.

Like others are saying, I am surprised they haven’t mentioned the ramps on the side of the central control point. It’s an excellent spot for any weapon and mech, specially disc launchers. Ares goes good with that because you can just put up your shield and splash enemies in the middle and around their spawn zone because most of the battle takes place here. And for reloading, you can just duck behind that raised ledge pointing towards the middle. However, you are kinda vulnerable because it’s easily reachable by the enemy. But you can also just climb down on your side and easily go to the lower platform if things go south. One other ideal spot for javelin is the path going down to the lower platform. You can just stand there and hide and just shoot javs. You can always use the lower platform to go back to the spawn spot or wherever it’s safe if things go awry. I recommend a killshot with javs because you can also dash from one lower platform to the other side using your melee dash and avoid enemy fire. And as for snipers, the best spot are behind the barriers leading upto the central control point. It’s on the side just besides your spawn zone leading up to the center. The enemy doesn’t expect snipers over there and you can just pop up from either side and snipe the enemy and duck behind the barriers to reload. One other thing about the lower platforms is that they aren’t the same; one leads directly to your enemy spawn spot along with the center. It’s posits for your enemy. So if your right lower platform leads to their spawn spot, you left lower platform leads from the enemy to your spawn spot. You can use this to rain javs on enemies that spawn or surprise them by appearing out of nowhere. This is an excellent spot for zephyrs and surges. Just wait for your ability to reload and sneak up on them. It takes the enemy by surprise. And yeah I’m kind of a nerd to know all that, I know 😂. Well anyhow, that’s pretty much it about skyship 11

Here’s Another Tip; Much like the covering that overhangs the central control point with the right patience you can actually get ontop of the tall grey box bins at spawn using a Lancer. Sure there is no cover but it can definitely disorientate players that arnt looking for death from above :)

using lancer you can get on the helicopter platform,and from there you can kill enemies using guided weapons or snipers. the helicopter blades also provide cover from missile racks or rocket mortars

Maps…maps…maps, we need more maps. You can toss the FFA maps in the “bad idea” bin and work on maps! Maps can be on rotation, have a like or dislike vote button, be tuned for new Mech/pilot/weapon releases. Tell the bean counters not to worry, fresh map layouts keeps game interest high and specific sales will increase or hold steady with new content. Oh, I almost forgot to mention MAPS!

The lower decks is also good with MR launchers as well. When up against bits I use Gatecrasher but I'm not sure if the ion blaster goes through the floor of the upper deck or not

Lancer can jump out of the lower deck onto the red covering as well as behind the frontline, which makes this the perfect way to flank enemies

You got the ramps on the front-back of the mid control point, great for assault and explosives. The tall ledges on either sides of the mid control point; which is good for snipers, disc launchers, rockets, some shotguns for flanking enemies. And there are containers here and there, stratergized for javelins and nade lauchers. But overal, it's quite an interesting map, and also my favorite. Actually, it's better to use javelins or disc lauchers at the red platform on the sides; as they can aim mechs trying to capture the central control point. Belive me, i've seen a million times hiding at that spot and unleash my rain of terror. I'm just a nerd walking by😂

The gap under the lower deck where they can take advantage of you can use that as cover and shooting but downside theres not alot of room to move away from that area so tank or speed would be good but speed would be more best and javelins cant hit you from there

What I do is I go to the Lower deck and you might not know this but if you go to the very back there’s a staircase right to the enemy spawn point so then you can just get behind them and kill them 4:57

Also, the ramps near the central control point are a good place for guardians to keep control of pretty much the entire enemy team, and the ramps of the lower decks are great for surprise attacks too

What about the main barrier/ramp that each team has between spawn and center beacon? Imo that's probably the most crucial. Far enough away from the lower deck ramps to be safe from most abilities, far enough away from obstacles behind you that Disc Launchers can hit and deal AOE damage, and it's just tall enough that, if someone tries to shoot you, you're covered from everything besides Javs/Mortars/Nades. This is an absolute must-have position for at least one player if you're against more than just bots. The weakness tho, is the upper area on the sides where enemies can take cover from you, and give you the same treatment (plus if you're not careful, the lower deck ramps closest to you). Good command position overall tho.

My only issue with this game is how I keep getting braindead teammates, extremely stupid people who have no skill and no brain. Support mechs who think they can outheal every damage, scout mechs with no evasive manoeuvres. It's crazy 😢

Redeemer Can get on the outer area above the javelin launch area, while equiped with javelins.. Bots cant reach you. and you can jump down there to lock on and shoot, then use ability to zip yourself back atop the area. XD

You have a 50% chance to flank a bot since EVERY single bot can target any track you, almost every time for newer players but maybe a slim chance for pro players......so be careful.
