Awesome reaction guys. It's perfect that you made the war analysis right away because that's exactly what it is. This song is the main event/plot of their whole story (which takes place throughout their entire discography). This specific track comes in about a third of the way through, but our perspectives within the story change time-wise for plot purposes and world/character/lore-building This is definitely one of their faster and harder tracks and hard to digest, but they do have tracks where it's either all male cleans, all female cleans, all male/female duets, and all harsh death metal. It varies from album to album and it all depends on where the story currently is. And here's a thing about the drums though! The albums before this track have an actual drummer and he plays just as intensely as in this track. So in a way, the programmed ones here were an emulation of his style.

Mechina tells a story, unlike other bands, these guys tell a story and it's amazing!! Definitely should look into more of them!

Great video. I strongly suggest reacting to their album Xenon from 2014, songs like Terrea, Tartarus, Thales, Erebus, absolutely killer tracks from probably their best album.

Wow, I remember finding your channel years ago when you first listened to Ne Obliviscaris, never thought you would pop back into my feed with Mechina of all things. I like to think that listening to Mechina is similar to how ancient people listened to The Odyssey. The Singles (of which this song is one of) do the heavy lifting to connecting each album together into a story which is why there are all the sound effects and voice overs. Since you guys seemed to like it, I thought I would provide some context to the actual story so you could enjoy the songs a little more. I'm not a Mechina lore expert, so people can feel free to correct me, but here goes: the story takes place on a pair of sibling planets in the far future after Earth has been scorched beyond livability. Acheron and Empyrean, Acheron is earth-like after decades of terraforming, Empyrean is more technological, inhabited by cyborgs. The human race is split between the two based on how they wanted to live - those on Empyrean seek technological control of their lives, those on Acheron want to live peacefully in tune with nature. The plot of the current story has to do with Empyrean scorching Acheron and the main characters - Amyntas and Alithea's quest for vengeance, but other albums have focused on Enyo and Andara's erspectives. Amyntas - main character and leader of the Titanborn; wants to find the Just City - a place where people can live free of persecution Alithea - Sister of Enyo, really wants to kill all of Empyrean in vengeance Enyo - Near immortal Cyborg leader of Empyrean, sister of Alithea Andara - Enyo and Alithea's mother Titans - the "god-killing "machines the size of citties Titanborn - the group of people that oversaw the transport of remaining humans to and the terraforming of Acheron. Are all cyborgs and can each pilot a titan, many followed Enyo to Empyrean Cepheus Ring - the spacehip/station in orbit above Acheron where humanity was awoken from cryosleep and lived for decades whilst Amyntas terraformed Acheron into a livable planet, also where Enyo experimented on herself to become immortal. There's a lot more to the lore, but this covers all the concepts the songs repeatedly reference, I hope this helps and that it makes you want to listen to more Mechina, I agree with other comments Progenitor is their best album far and away as well as a midway point for their sound - if you want heavier and more industrial check out everything before it, if you want more melodic and symphonic, check out most of the stuff after it.

Go back and listen to their first few albums. It's much less electronic sounding and you can actually hear what they're playing. They're excellent if you give it a chance.

mechina are awesome, but their first couple albums (which this is from) were a bit rough. they mix and produce everything themselves, and have gotten better at it over time. for a much better sounding, more cohesive example of their sound check out either on the wings of nephili or starscape. the cd progenitor was the height of their sound imo.

Progenitor is definitely their best album as a whole.

I liked their early albums, mostly because i enjoy hearing the little sings of where the band was heading and knowing the result. On the other hand, i kinda dislike their last album, it feels overproduced and its drowning the music in editing, but i still like the music, just disagree with the way its filled with effects.

I don't like a lot of their early stuff, I actually really liked venator, after hating siege.

@@Hellscream_9999 venator is growing on me. its no progenitor, though. i didnt hate siege, its just not great. its good but its definitely one of their weaker albums.
@Hellscream_99992 жыл бұрын
@@johnnylemon9610 Progenitor is a gorgeous album, venator is runner up due to how many songs I liked off of it. Archivarious choas ritual is still my favorite song out of everything I've ever heard though, nothing will top it.
