At the start when hes explaining moving out of a conflict zone to repair it actually cost him more by moving..it was 223k to repair in conflict zone, although after moving out it was only 135k to repair you have to account for the cost to move. 50k to move out and 50k to move back to where you started, add it all up and it cost 235k...he'd of saved money just repairing it in the conflict zone when it only cost 223k

I'm a casual Battletech player. Not into the table top game or the lore. Used to play the Crescent Hawk's Revenge in the 90's. My strategy is max armor, heat sink, & firepower. No jump jets, pulse lasers, LRM's, AMS. Full max frontal armor, 6 rear armor for me & my AI. Long range fighting is just a niche. Most combats are from 100-300M. So all my mechs are set for brawling. Once you find a hero mech with lots of double heat sink(DHS), like urbie k9, catapult, & another mech, buy it, strip it, sell it, go to another planet, fly back, repeat.
@diomed0115 жыл бұрын
Ferocious Ferret the game does seem to drive you towards brawling, which is fine since I love my srms, ac10’s and 20’s and my medium lasers.

I haven't noticed any bugs with PPCs, but I have noticed that PPCs are NOT hit scan weapons like lasers. PPC shots have flight times, which means targets can move out of the way AFTER you fired your PPCs, creating the "X" pattern you described as the PPC shots pass through the space where the target used to be.
@diomed0113 жыл бұрын
Where did I claim that PPCs are hitscan? I rewatched most of the video and I can't find where I said that. Please tell me the time stamp. If I did say that I apologize, that is wrong and you are correct. You may not have noticed PPC's missing, but they do. I don't know if you played Mechwarrior Online, but I did, for years. I also played with two competetive clans and spent many hours with mechwarrior pilots for more skillful and more experience than myself. They all agreed that PPCs were buggy. Some felt they were still worth it and some stayed away from them. What I have noticed playing the DLC is that is may be projectiles that miss. Watch my BlackWidow video. In that one an ER PPC passes right through the body of a mech. That being said I have seen autocannon rounds do the same thing, so it may not be exclusive to the PPC. Don't know for sure, but I stay away from PPCs. That's just me. If you like them, go for it! They are good weapons, I just prefer large lasers.

Assuming you haven't figured it out in the past 6 months, you can put any weapon in any hardpoint in Mechwarrior 5 with the Omni-slots mod.

If I happen to have more ammo than I have slots in my legs, is there a next best option or does it not matter where they go at that point?
@diomed0113 жыл бұрын
Center torso and head are big no no's. I usually got either arm, but you risk losing the ammo, or a side torso, which puts you at risk for a disastrous ammo explosion. It's probably a statistical wash at that point.
@josephkasmarcik28953 жыл бұрын
On armor I definitely wouldn't go lower then 12, and part of the reason for that is how MW 5 spawns enemies is kind of crap and enemies can just appear behind you even through areas you just cleared this is really silly when your talking about turrets that just respawn after being torn down and immediately start shooting you. It wouldn't be as bad if they didn't potentially spawn right within weapons range but it can and will happen.
@diomed0113 жыл бұрын
Right you are. It annoys the hell out of me and screams of lazy game design.
@josephkasmarcik28953 жыл бұрын
@@diomed011 Yea they really did drop the ball on that piece. That and some of the AI pathing. I can't say I am in love with how restrictive they are with mech rebuilds either. It makes some mechs all but worthless like a good portion of the Griffins for example. I mean really a 55 ton mech with a single energy slot and missile slot what a waste. Still I am having fun with the game so I guess thats what counts
@bluelionsage993 жыл бұрын
Luckily they fixed the enemy spawns between the July 2021 update and Heroes of the Inner Sphere DLC. Sometimes they spawn annoyingly far away and you need one last kill to finish the mission and have to go hunt down a stuck tank someplace in the hills.
@josephkasmarcik28953 жыл бұрын
@@bluelionsage99 I will have to keep an eye out then since I installed the update but haven't noticed the change but that could be just me. I did recently have a mission after the update where I literally watched the next wave spawn in. That was unusual but I imagine it had to do with the map being large and fairly open with me sitting atop one of the few hills in the area. I don't remember the exact range but i recall it being within targeting range of my Gauss rifle.

never max armored my mechs. Not saying its wrong to do just that it's not the only way to do things. If I can add more damage so that things don't live long enough to shoot me as much it's worth more than the armor.
@bombomos3 жыл бұрын
That's fair, but Mechwarrior 5 has crazy specific hard points. So you can only out in a weapon of the same class or lower. So it's not really an option to out more fire power on a mech

whats a good way of getting early mechs? I'm having a hard time getting anything other than lights.
@diomed0114 жыл бұрын
I bought my first few mediums. It is difficult to salvage mediums early on. You will need to commit to a faction, like Davion, and stick with them. You need the loyalty points in order to increase your salvage points. Later, running the multi-step missions is the key to more salvage as you get more salvage points per negotiation point; but to do that you need a larger cadre of mechs.
@gabriellee98873 жыл бұрын
is it good to put Negotiation points in damage coverage or go more salvage/payout?
@diomed0113 жыл бұрын
I hate to say this but it depends. If you are running light/medium mechs the repairs are fairly cheap so I tend to forego insurance. You also have few points to spare at that point. Later, when I get into heavy and especially assault mechs I will go with one or two points into insurance. Salvage is my primary consideration, then cash, then insurance and air strikes (they can save you some repair costs if you can land them).

Actually, the unmodded game gives better chance for salvage from a center cored mech than it does from a legged mech. There is a mod that flips the two and increases the chance rate overall.

Right you are! Thanks! Your post got me curious so I did some research and it does appear that PGI really screwed the pooch on this one. In my DLC video I reference your statement and retract my tip to leg mechs. In my defence, the salvage chances for mechs in supposed to work the way I describe it in this video. I trusted PGI to do it correctly and then hung me out to dry. :)
