Pro Tip: Eventually you progress in the timeline to where Davion and Steiner combine into the Federated Commonwealth and all the faction bonus you gained with them is erased.

@@ThePanboh Opposite my current game, I was hero davion disliked steiner and when fedcom formed my rep was zero'd out. I've only got around half of the DLCs, don't know if that matters.

I would also recommend that you drive the centurion a lot as a starting player. It will teach you to twist and protect the auto cannon and use the shield arm. It also is a super well rounded mech good a all ranges.

Airstrikes are your friend on some missions. Theres no better feeling than when you run an assassination, all targets are in the same spot and you get a 2nd lance, and you can drop an airstrike on 1 lance and heavily damage/delete it. Its worth the money.

My experience with the AI is that 1) Make sure your weapon groups are correct. If you mistake grouping an alpha strike with lrms and short range weapons, they sometimes won't fire. 2) AI is pretty good with heat management much to the extent of sometimes not firing. knowing that, make sure they have heat sinks. 3) AI would charge enemies according to their lowest range weapon so try removing short range weapons like machine guns or flamers if your aim is to make it support you mid range. 4) Mechs wherein you can place cheap weapons in the arms and the heavy ones in the torso work wonders as there are more times when an AI pilot will lose its arms before anything else.

Agreed 100%, arm weapons are super good. You get so much ease in aiming with them. There's obviously a trade out for balance, as great as they are, they can be targeted easily and need to be protected.

@@diomed011 yea I HATE that. I've lost alot of tech because of A.I. even the switching of mechs they added don't help when the A.I pretty much perform Harakiri every chance they get.

Tip- Money making-I found it's best to do demolition missions solo, use machine guns on something fast and very mobile with a few flamers if there's room.LR Missiles also help for long range destruction of buildings, Avoid open conflict especially with those damned UMs. One AC hit from them and SHTF.

I just give myself any amount of money i desire, usually 999,999,999. But this disappears real fast, as i have all the hero mechs, & just buy the rare mechs then resell them to complete my database.

I'd argue the AC-BF variants are better on faster 'Mechs when you go for rear shots and legging. On a slower 'Mech that has next to no chance of getting into the back of enemies the guaranteed damage to one part is better for cracking that target open quickly. Also, you don't need a lot of secondary weapons on a Hunchback with an AC/20 once you have a good understanding of the weapon. Most targets will not last two hits, many go down in one. And "working your way up to the AC/20", well that also only works so well. The difference between an AC/10 and an AC/20 when it comes to handling is so vast they could be different weapons altogether. You can get away with dodgy aim on an AC/10 but you literally have to know where your enemy will move next to fire an AC/20 effectively beyond 200m and that'S darn close in this game. AC/20s are more akin to SRMs in my experience.

Great tips. Learnt the hard way about the AI was giving them tanky safe mechs then decided to give one pilot my modded Victor with top tier parts. It was returned to me with 3/4 of said gear scrapped. I was so pissed off was cursing the Ai pilot for 5 minutes straight had to reload and replay the mission again.

Yup! Happened to me with the Black Widow. I was in a hurry (bad idea) and gave a lancemate the mech (second bad idea). It was an easy demo mission. Cost me an ER-PPC. RELOAD! :)

Don't understand all the AI hates. Maybe because I'm coming to MW5 at v1.1.30 and they ironed out all the stupidities? But my AI lance-mates are just killing targets @ 900+ range faster then I can get a bearing on them. The trick for me was giving them mechs with extended sensors range upgrade. Seriously, as soon as a threat pops up--it's gone. Like how are you killing it behind two freaking hills???

It is not hate. That implies an irrational response to something without enough evidence to justify the position. I have some 400 hours in this game and I have the video evidence to support my claim, on this channel. Go watch my Light Mech Analysis and any of my Let's Play series for this game. There are incidents of the AI standing still, unresponsive because they cannot target something. The AI will fire into the ground trying to shoot something through a hill. I have an incident on tape of three AI mechs, all in heavier chasis', struggleing to deal with one spider while I am forced to fight mech after mech alone because of their incompetance. I will try giving them a mech with improved sensor range, that is a good tip; but if a single quirk addition to a mech fixes bad AI that is in and of itself a bug. It is not acceptable, to me at least, that the AI needs this one quirk in order to fix it's shitty behavior.

@@diomed011 Sorry, guess I was grouping you with all the AI haters from the steam community. And I don't doubt your claims, nor those from the steam forums. I just wanted to chime in that--while at only 40+ hrs of play--I'm actually happy with my AI lance-mates. If anything they had been carrying me the first 20 hrs of play. I rarely give them orders, and just let them do their own things--which works out quite well really. I read that spamming orders actually hinders the AI. The only time I had issues with them are when I jump off high cliffs, then this creates a huge pathing-hell issues for them and they just get stuck.

How do you get to the end game missions? I have beat every objective?

One of the campaign mission should take you to the end. It's where you find 3 lances of heavy/assault. There's 2 repair bays. You have to hold out for a certain amount of time. Rihanna keeps telling you to retreat to higher grounds. It's best to be on high ground, facing the ramp, which acts as a bottleneck, so only 1-2 of them could go up the ramp. As they head rises, you get a free round as they can't shoot back yet, since their weapons will just hit the ground. There's a guy doing the last mission with just a Firestarter-E, with all flamers. He destroys heavy/assaults in 5-10 seconds.

Is there not a restart option on pc? If a mission goes south just restart. Make better choices on the following run.

Yeah, you can restart the mission back to the drop point. There are save games as well. For me, that feels like failure and losing. I like to drop in, face the obstacles and then try to deal with the results of that. It plays into the merc company management for me.

@@igorbukovy4313 Gauss, SRMs, Medium Pulse lasers, ran it as my personal mech for a long time, can confirm was amazing fun. Only moved on after I cocpit'd my 2nd king crab and decided 2 gauss was better than 1.
