And it was out before Game of Thrones.... So Game of Thrones is Battletech in low fantasy. Seriously speaking, though, much of the GoT-style stuff did come out after GoT did. Don't know if the authors ever read it first, though.

I don't know if a GoT-like Battletech show is actually a good idea. Due to budget constraints, early seasons of GoT were heavy on political maneuvering and no actual big battles. Do we want to see a Battletech show with no battles and no Battlemechs? I actually think the animated series made a good move by focusing on a few warriors on the front lines rather than the political maneuvering at the top.

@@Wintermute01001 The way I remember it, GoT season one was the Stark family and Danny for the most part. Sure it showed their interactions with the rest of the realm, little glimpses into the other houses, but it started relatively small. It grew over time to accommodate the greater machinations at play. The show was able to pace itself, slow and steady as it revealed the grand web of factional politics and characters. I think that would be the best way of doing it. I'm not a Rasalhague guy, my loyalties lie with the Federated Suns and always have. That said, Rasalhague could certainly be that small beginning and they could definitely pull sympathy like the Starks did. By all means start with a smaller nation, start with a smaller cast sure, but it would be criminal not to indulge in the same kind of natural growth that GoT had.

The IS engaged in cowardly trickery all the time canonically. Of course, I would also love to see him get out without getting wrecked and do epic anime swordfight. How to get a new mech against clanners: Step 1: Find a sword and wave it around as your desired mech approaches. Step 2: Assuming the pilot sees you and gets out to honorably duel, have your buddy(you've got a buddy, right?) snipe the cockpit with his trusty urbanmech's small laser. The AC/10 would ensure a kill but then the cockpit would be destroyed. Step 3: This is the hard part...climb up the mech to the cockpit. This will take a while. Step 4:Profit! XD
