@@goycaylibayram6519 The Next Start 4K and the Mecool KM2 are close, but the Mecool KM2 has the edge with that Amlogic S905X4 CPU over the Amlogic S905Y4 in the next start. The Mi box 4K hardware can compare

Greetings. Does KM7 Plus support Dolby Digital ? My audio system only support Dolby TrueHD, Dolby Digital Plus, DTS-HD (not Atmos). And does KM7 Plus support HDR10+ ? Should I consider the KM2 Plus instead which has a slightly more powerfull processor and does support some more audio and video codecs from the S905X4. Thank you!

Yes it supports Dolby Digital plus. Under the audio settings you need to set audio to passthrough.

Very good question. I saw it too and was wondering, and I came up with its Google TV, audio decoders, and DRM certification is better. But the benchmarks are lower. Google TV seem to use more RAM than Android TV OS.

Nice review as usual, can i get dolby sound to soundbar via optical out port connected to soundbar ? Is SPDIF audio output available in sound settings ?

Your question was actually really tricky to answer as I had to test it all over again. The results are: There are no options to switch between HDMI and optical audio, however, audio is outputted through both channels simultaneously so it's always on. With that said, when you connect the optical audio port to your receiver and play a Dolby Atmos video there is no Atmos detected by the receiver. Also I've tried various media players to test this and the only ones that work with the audio settings set to passthrough, is VLC and Kodi. The MX player is buggy with Atmos.

@@tvboxstop Thank you sir for your efforts, appreciate that. However I guess optical cable is not capable passing Dolby Atmos audio and it's limited to Dolby digital audio. For atmos audio one has to use hdmi, however question is with optical connection between Tv box and soundbar are we getting atleast Dolby digital audio to sound bar. Now someone can say why one needs to use optical cable over HDMI, and answer to it is for getting Dolby 5.1 sound while watching movies on projector, instead of PCM 2.0 sound. I am currently using old MiBox 3 running Android 9 which has SPDIF option available in audio output settings. I heard from some people that this SPDIF option is missing in audio setting of this box and only Auto and PCM options are available. Can you please check this. My projector setup is Projector screen, below that Samsung Dolby digital sound bar having optical in port. My Mi box connected to soundbar with minitoslink to toslink optical cable, mi box HDMI out 10 meter HDMI cable connected to projector. Sound out set to SPDIF in sound setting of MiBox. And with this setup i get Dolby digital sound in Kodi, Netflix, Disney etc. If sound setting is put to Auto or PCM i get only PCM 2.0 sound to my sound bar, hence SPDIF setting is important.

I have seen in other boxes where you can get Dolby Atmos, and Dolby audio over optical audio. However, in this box you are getting absolutely nothing only PCM over optical.

@@tvboxstop Thank you sir for your confirmation. Same was the thing for MiBox S, after its software update to Android 12, later they solved this SPDIF optical out issue with another update. Mecool however is not known for regular updates, hence currently it's optical port can be marked as useless if it is not even processing Dolby audio. It was a good option against MiBox S with better 16 Gb storage and having dedicated optical and lan port. However regarding optical port it's a disappointment.

Hello nick, I have a similar box, but I get 1080p max resolution though that's the max resolution of the TV. But I'm wondering if connecting a 4k monitor, would give me that 4k resolution option in display settings

Yes if you connect a 4K Monitor the 4K 2160p option will appear, or whatever is its max resolution.

No gigabit ethernet and only USB 2.0 is an instant no for me, especially at this high price too. I would have also thought that Android 12 would have been a minimum in 2023, let alone it only running in 32 bit mode.
