Who are we?
We are a European couple from Germany (Alex) and the Netherlands (Mandy), sailing around the Med on our 36ft sailboat. 12 months ago we started our journey in Greece with little sailing experience, figuring things out as we go, thinking we know what we are getting ourselves into. Our goal is to circumnavigate the world on our 36ft Beneteau. Sailboat life is super different from land life. It is fantastic and pretty rough at times. see the little things tries to FIND HAPPINESS BY DOING THINGS THAT ARE HARD. Join us on this journey and let's find happiness together!
If you have any COMMENTS, suggestion, questions or feel to need to praise (or scold) us, leave a comment down below and we’d happily write you back :). Of course a THUMBS UP is ALWAYS APPRECIATED very much so and helps us a lot!

The quality is great! Everyone has that "artistic opinion" that means so little to the actual production as long as you have a solid script. ;)

The fade to black between scenes was different. Once again the videos and narrations are great. Had to watch a second time to check your comment on the pace, noticed more casual conversations on the boat. Shows more of the real boat life, Bedouin Tent and all. Cute! Nice to see you both smile.

And again such an inspiring and even wonderfully showed anchor-manouver, with beautfully controlled and re-set anchor by hand. What I really really appreciate and love from you two are the facts, that you GO OUT THERE AND DO. You don't try, you DO! Getting up and down steep Hills, with perfectly great Shoes (Hi Mamma, all save-you see:-)), finding your way to Ruppert (that made me really laugh:-)) and just getting from the Bush into a street. All that is Adventure. Your Anchormanouver and setting of the anchors, checking upon them and resetting it by Hand, all that are the signs of really great and responsibel Sailors. You may not be in the Sailing Lifestyle for decades, but you show the professionalism and joy from really experienced Sailors. And that is applaudable, beside all the wonderful music you find. When I saw one of your videos the first time, I did you both wrong by stating something that I do not like young Sailors on big Boats. I thought that all those are spoiled Grown Ups, living off their Parents Money and trying to pollute the Oceans with newly rich Sailors who are not interested to do things properly in this, our Livestlye. Boy, I was NEVER MORE WRONG in my live with you two! And for that, I would like to appologize to you two here! Fact is, that I cannot wait to see and hear about your Journey, your Travels, on and off the Boat. And beside all that, you both make me laugh on every single episode of yours, because how you talk to each other too. I am crossing this January 2021 the Atlantic, I am open to time and location. It would be very, very excellent, if our Way would cross. Look out for a Sailing Vessel Named BIJOUX, with an ORANGE Dinghy. Cheers Andy

You certainly captured the freedom and exhilaration of sailing from 7:00 to 11:53. The whole anchoring bit seemed a bit disjointed, with an unintended tension of “will we get it right or not”, mixed with nice underwater shots. Kind of a hodgepodge, but it kinda worked, cause “we’re so creative and confident we can do whatever the hell we want” attitude, which is fun and shows you don’t take things too seriously. Even though the little decisions one makes on the water can have serious consequences. A nice mix of moods, but still not refined perfectly yet, but getting very close. Love the process, love the journey.

You could have given Rupert a tomato of carrot if you had one :-) There's a true story of a Japanese soldier that lived in an underground bunker for over 30 years on the island of Guam after WWII. Trying to avoid capture, not knowing that the war was over. He was discovered recently, stealing a fish from someone's net. Another gr8 video from you guys :-)

Take a look at video Ep. 25 of "Sailing Bacchus Home" if you are thinking of long passages. They have a sister ship to yours and are sailing from England to New Zealand. Of most importance for me is that they have a Hydrovane. Either that or a Windpilot Pacific would, for me, be on the top of my list to get ready for the big voyage. Please don't depend on your below deck autopilot. It is just a question if when it will fail. Plus a 3rd reef in the main is important, if you don't already have one. As to the removable inner stay, necessary if you are flying a genoa of 120% or more. Probably not if you are flying a 105% or less since that can be furled to a 70% and still have shape if there is a foam or padded luff. Just some thoughts from an old salt who loves you videos!
@seethelittlethings
@seethelittlethings 4 жыл бұрын
Thanks Ron! Third reef and pilot solution definitely on the list!! The autopilot works but we’ve been getting network errors more and more. We’ve been watching the small inventions on Bacchus closely. that vane seems just perfect for the 361.. 💸💸 whieeeehhhh 💸💸💸💸

have you guys tried the stern bridle on the main anchor technique to adjust the angle to the waves? it eliminates the need to the second anchor deployment. Never done that myself but seen other channels doing it successfully (nanji, rick moore, ...).

I admit that I know very little about editing but I watch a lot of KZbin videos, mainly sailing couples. Am I correct in saying that you are brilliant at both taking and editing??? Which of you is the real expert? Also, Mandy, you remind me incredibly of my Greek ex fiance of forty years ago. It is a treasure to see you there, whatever you are doing or not doing. What a Goddess. My ex Goddess no longer looks much like you but the memory is there.

Thanks Howard! Sorry for the late reply: as with sailing, we both shoot and edit more or less the same amount of time. Alex got into editing first and now we share the workload evenly. Mandy picked it up fast and it’s great to balance things out

Hey Howard, we both started our (dinghy) sailing lesson a year before we moved onboard. From the start we had the same experiences but we sometimes draw different conclusions from them. Four eyes on one situation is another chance to learn (when doing good debriefings after a stressful sail).
