As someone on the other side, make sure that if you get involved with research in medical school, that you are realistic about your time and what you are able to commit to. Sometimes supervisors also get carried away with the scope of the project. It's so important to ask lots of questions at the beginning and make sure that you are really really focused and specific about your research question or what component of the project you'll be taking on as a medical student and what can be feasibly completed with your limited time!! Remember your time is precious too and you want to be able to get something concrete out of it (i.e. poster, oral presentation, publication, networking opportunities etc.)!! Finally, and perhaps most importantly, do research in an area you are PASSIONATE about!!! Because research is hard and tedious and frustrating and you want to be able to sustain your interest!! Anyway, those are my two cents, hopefully it's helpful for those in the comments! :)

Let's say for example you're 31 (not old but still). In three years you're still going to be 34, whether you'll go to uni or not. I think I speak for everyone when I say I'd rather go to school and learn something and/or become better at something than just turn 34, you still get experience! I totally get where you're coming from with the whole getting-bored-of-standing-around, I'm a speech pathology student and the first couple days of seeing patients was really interesting but it gets to a point where you've seen most of what there is to see and you're kinda just in the room while the professionals do all the work :/ I guess that's just what being a student is but this video was relatable af lmao
