This was so Full Metal Jacket. It was the time when FPS games were pure good.

Someone had fun coming up with that speech for the drill sergeant.

That’s an actual speech, it wasn’t made for the game.

That was the first FPS game I'd ever play after I heard some random schoolmate talking about it

Man I honestly cannot put into words my feelings on how I miss the experience I had playing this game, for I am no skilled writer, let alone in a foreign language. But medal of honor allied assault and later pacific assault were the best experience I ever had in single player FPS gaming. And aside from the early LAN matches of the original CS game, I've never been a fan of any online gaming whatsoever. Looking at it now, the allied assault one looks a bit rough on the edges, some missions looks kinda empty, but I still regard the stealth component of it very highly. Meanwhile, pacific assault looks very good still. Sure graphics came a LONG way ever since, but that game doesn't look bad at all. And the storyline, feels like a good well written script for a box office hit war movie like saving private Ryan. It's been very long, but I have fond memories. This scene roght here, it's as good as iconic war movie scenes like born to kill, jarhead, etc.

it almost sounds like someone doing an impression of Don Knotts, doing an impression of R. Lee Ermey...

This game might be dated, but I hold it up with cod; world at war as one of the most reverent world War 2 games ever made
