Today I ran into a 77 year old Vietnam vet who flew F-105's. I brought up Colonel Thorsness right away! RIP sir you're a legend.

A great story from a good man. It's a good thing that veterans now have a forum to relate their stories. It wasn't always this way. Wasn't it the American Legion that rejected Viet Nam veterans in the '70's and early '80's? Didn't they take a vote at one of their conventions to deny membership to Viet Nam vets? Didn't they speak out on national TV disparaging Viet Nam Veterans as drug addicted baby killers? Then, amazingly, as the Legion's numbers started to dwindle as the old vets died off, they started looking for new members, and almost suddenly, Viet Nam became a good war, and the vets became welcome. When we most needed it, the Legion did not welcome us home.

The only one that didn’t break was Jeremiah Denton and he never made anyone feel bad who did. No one can.
