The municipal administration aims to turn Medellin into the first city in Latin America with electric mobility by 2025. for the next year the renewal of all electric and natural gas buses begins. Today, the public service is providing about 100 cars of this new generation. The second tram and the fourth face of the subway will also be built. The idea is to reduce taxes on new brands that offer private renewal of motorcycles and cars. that is why Tesla is interested in reaching Latin America, starting in Colombia. all this aims to improve the air and transform the city into a more sustainable

Just curious. I live in Costa Rica and for the old buses that only have a button by the back door, to let the driver know you want to get off, people used to (haven't ridden a bus for a long time, so not sure about now) just yell "parada" and get up and walk toward the back exit. The driver would know to stop the bus. This is especially good when the aisle is crowded and you can't get to the back exit very fast. Wondering if people do the same thing in Medellin.
@CarltonsTravelAdventures5 жыл бұрын
Hello Steve Have not heard "parada" here. I travel on the buses pretty often. Must be CR thing. Where do you live in CR? The closest I go the CR was Bocas De Rio in Panama. I have to come visit CR this year and check out the fishing. I was dissapointed with the fishing in Panama.

Thx for the video ! My wife and I may retire in Colombia. She is originally from Nicaragua...we speak Spanish. But as far as food, we are Vegan and tey our best to eat a whole foods plant based diet...fruits, veggies, seeds, nuts, and grains. I was just wondering if you see any Vegan restaurants or Vegan food options in restaurants there ? Thanks
@CarltonsTravelAdventures5 жыл бұрын
Come on down brother. I love it here so far. Moved in July 2018. One of things I love is the availability of fruits and they are very cheap. I am actually in the process of doing a video on a fruit drink I made every week. I am not a vegan but I know a few in this expat group. There are a few restaurants I heard them discussing. When you come I will hook you up with the expat group. Lot of good people. I do not eat red meat. I also love a lot of fruit and nuts. Fruit are no issue but I think nuts are very expensive here. Not sure why. When friends visit I ask them to buy large bags at Walmart. I love almonds and I know they cost about $3 to $5 more per bag. Not a really big deal but it adds up.

Good job I was in Medellin last month enjoyed it. I must say all Spanish speaking countries I have been to they drive crazy. There are some things to get used to as in there are always women in the bathroom, not flushing toilet paper, no wash cloths etc. But a major plus are transportation costs are very low compared to anywhere else I've been the taxi cab drivers are reasonable even and uber is cheap. Keep up the good work.

I agree, the food in some places is rich foods. Also, the sweet beverages taste like they use artificial sweeteners. I will not drink the sodas, or most none American drinks. Other thing is if you have guest with you at a restaurant-when you order food, on every occasion for me, they don’t seem to be able to bring all of your party’s food out at the same time. So you or your party is watching you while you eat and they are still waiting to be served. There are some great restaurants in Rionegro. One of my favorites is Mar y Fuego which is in the new mall in Llanogrande. Their food is awesome and their appetizers, excellent. It’s a beautiful mall.

Wzup Ronnie, sorry for the late response. I have been trying to move. Bad time of year to move. Most American like Poblado. I would recommend you stick to Poblado until you learn a lot more about the city. Just do AirBNB for 2 weeks or a month to begin. You need time to settle. I personally do not like Poblado but there is nothing wrong with it. I prefer Laureles but there are a lot of nice and secure neighborhood like Las Americas and Belen. If you saw my prior videos you will know apartment hunting is very tough here until you get to know lot of people. I moved to an AirBNB for a few months, even thought I really do not like AirBNB. This is a friend of a friend. Stick with a nice AirBNB in Poblado for a few months until you settle..

Wzup Vegas. They have various options in gyms just depends on what you are looking for. I joined what you would consider a middle class type of gym. It is not fancy but has everything I need. a pound is a pound even if it is not pretty. I paid about $23 USD a month for almost a year then last month they had a special where you could pay $150,000 up front for 6 months. That's $50 USD. Had to take it. Four floors and they do have a steam room and a bunch of classes including spin and dance. I am happy with it. Some other friends pay more for the fancy La Fitness type guys with all the pretty girls. I go to the gym to work out. LOL

The people who see me are thinking wealthy gringo. I have had people ask for money so that they can feed their families, get dental work and other things. Many are willing to work for some extra cash. Just learn to say no if your mechanic sends you a photo of his teeth and asks you if you could help him get new implants. Things like that. One of so many factors that might push women in Medellin to get cosmetic surgeries is the fact that the rate of births is higher for women than men and due to gang related violence there are more men dying (or just not "likable") than women so there's a "surplus" of women. That factor creates a competition for men.

@CarltonsTravelAdventures5 жыл бұрын
No. Not off target. There is just no focus on the cartels here anymore. Are they total gone? No. The city and government does not want anyone to focus on that history. They are operating under the radar. No longer high profile like 20 years ago. I saw a tv new show about 18 months ago where they actually interviewed some of these guys living in the city. They do not want to be flashy like the old days. Too much heat. They actually have a big gang problem in Medellin. They just do not report it. Last month 2 gangs in Bello went at it for a few days and the cops had to shut down the area. Girls were telling me they could not leave their barrio.
@CarltonsTravelAdventures5 жыл бұрын
Like in most other cities and countries the cartels and gangs do not mess with tourists and most normal people. They fight with themselves. The new mayor of Medellin hate for people to focus on that past. He does not even want hotels or tour companies to do any Pablo tours or you lose your licenses. Bad history, but it was history. Like slavery in the USA. Its history. Cannot erase it.
