It seems we need an agreement as to what our goal(s) are AND how we will quantify progress. Given all the consequences of wars-bad and good-and creations in art forms, worldwide communications, slavery reductions, child/elderly mental & physical health, where are we, for instance, on the Civilization Scale (to be defined)? How do we prioritize, value, the variables composing the net Scale position? What values do we justify for semaphore flags. smoke signals, radar, cell phones, vaccines, cures for rare diseases (polio, schizophrenia …), murderous envy, deadly depression, …?
