The only problem was the plot holes the film had. The biggest was the fact King was supposed to be only captured, not harmed. And both the mayor and superiors ordered the troops to not harm Kong. Yet the troops disobeyed and did it anyway. Yet it was never explained why and pissed off many fans of the film. And I hated how mean spirited the film was. But over all I still love the film as it was my first Kong film and I favor it over the King films that exist.
@justinsarcedo93554 жыл бұрын
Another one is not cutting down ship scenes like the original one. Could've replace it with random giant animals fighting Kong. Nope, pointless ship scenes that drags on and on. I skipped the boat scenes and felt like I fast forward half through just to see a ten minutes of Kong actually doing destruction. I rather watch Kong Skull island again than this.
@catchannel14842 жыл бұрын
I wouldn't say that was a plot hole. A plot hole is an inconsistency in the script. Obviously the point of that was to show the cruelty of humans, which the entire ending is about. And why would this be explained? Do you expect a scene where someone goes, "We were told to capture Kong, but we decided to be assholes and kill him anyway"? A scene like that would feel like the film is talking down to its audience. It respects its audience, and expects them to understand the point.
@catchannel14842 жыл бұрын
@@justinsarcedo9355 That's not a plot hole. And I haven't seen the movie in a few years, but from what I remember there wasn't *that* many scenes in the boat. And the scenes that *were* in the boat were pretty important. They show the characters explaining where they're going, Jack showing himself to the crew, the crew finding Dwan, and allowing both of them to join the journey. Then it skips over the other stuff in a quick montage and cuts to the island. None of it was "pointless", it all had an important reason to be there. Anything that wasn't important was put into a montage so we could get to the island faster. It sounds to me like you're talking about the Peter Jackson film (I love the Peter Jackson film with a passion, but still)
@justinsarcedo93552 жыл бұрын
@@catchannel1484 That's fair. Also, Percy Jackson is one of mine favorites too. But, it had a few changes in the sequel I simply didn't enjoy. The boat in scene you mentioned is right. The most puzzling thing to me was, when the God of Wine kept on favoring the Daughter of Aries to retrieve Golden Fleece and she failed. It's like "Hey God of Wine, wouldn't be better to have Percy Jackson and his crew over Aries Daughter to get the fleece? I think belittle the son of Poseidon will probably extended your punishment more, the daughter of Aries felt like that she would a female equivalent of Draco Malfoy except more combative and prideful then the sudden change to help Percy.

My all time favorite movie!! Last week I actually bought the cadillac kong throws into the building at 38:22. It's amazing the detail they put into it, only to destroy it. It's like 3 feet long and weighs about 40 pounds, all hammered lead sheets on the body and roof to simulate the crushing of steel. I've been looking for a costume or prop that was actually used in this film my whole life, and found this in a movie prop online auction by happy accident.

Fun Fact #2: Jessica Lange was offered the role of Dian Fossey in Michael Apted's 1988 biopic film: *"GORILLAS IN THE MIST: The Story of Dian Fossey",* but due to being pregnant, she couldn't accept. The role was then given to Sigourney Weaver, who'd received a nomination for the Best Actress Oscar in *"ALIENS",* two years prior.

Fun Fact: In the 1992 Nippon TV Japanese dub of *"KING KONG 1976",* Dwan was voiced by the late Yuko Mizutani who is best known as the Japanese voice for Minnie Mouse and Usagi's mother, Ikuko Tsukino in the 2014-16 *"Crystal"* reboot anime series of *"Sailor Moon".* Other Japanese actresses that dubbed the voice of Jessica Lange includes Tomoko Munakata in the 1979 TV Asahi edition, Miyuki Ueda in the 1980 Fuji TV edition and Atsuko Tanaka (who voiced Lara Croft in five of the original *"Tomb Raider"* video games) in the second TV Asahi edition from 1998. Sadly in Wikizilla, the only actor credited from its 1976 Japanese cinema release by Toho-Towa is Katsunosuke Hori who dubbed the voice of Charles Grodin as Fred S. Wilson.

Well, the fights with the other monsters do have a kind of relevance to the romantic story, since they display Kong's protectiveness of the heroin (which I assume is the reason Delaurentis allowed ONE to be in this movie).

I still don't like this version but after having seen it (not this extended edit) it does have it's own strengths. I just really like the original. And speaking of deleted scenes, in the original Kong did strip Ann Darrow, so it's at least sexual assault. It was shows in the UK cut oddly enough, and a local horror museum actually showed that cut some years ago. He also eats people. It's kind of brutal by the standards of the time..

Can you imagine the music & tone of this one in the 05 one? Honestly, the oil-story/reason is a nice change, by today's standard it would be quite the reason for such an expedition. Besides of that, the 70s remake is kinda good, didn't age well, but totaly fine to watch, especialy if you're a fan. The 05 remake is good, but I always had a problem with some small things, like the sailor-characters just vanishing in the NY-finale (they should've shown them sailing away, with Kong rampaging in the background & they just don't care anymore, they have been paid), music, 1st hour very looong. About "Skull Island", it's not SI, it's just Vietnam, or better, it's just Australia, and Kong, though good CGI, looks/feels kinda like the 70s one, a guy in a suit. But it's still a good movie.

Fun Fact, BOTH Jessica Lange and Jessica Harper would get their start in classic film remakes (King Kong, ~of course! and Phantom of the Paradise. By the end of the movies both characters are left in emotional tatters, when their taste of stardom leaves a deeply, bloody taste in their mouths. Just sayin'.

I really like this Movie, but by god if ending dosen't make Jack Prescott out to be a huge prick, Dwan is Crying her Eyes out over Kong's fate, But OH, SHE HAD A FEW PICTURES TAKEN OF HER, SO NOW SHE DISGUSTS HIM, Prescott get off your High Horse you self-rightous Ass-hat, in the theatrical cut you could make the argument that he's disgusted By the people swarming her and cheering kong's demise, which for the longest time after i First saw the film was how i interpreted it
