if you pay attention, it's strongly implied that Giselle, the Lancia from Monte Carlo, was killed during the baja race. the garage mechanic says that "he (jim) say he would have won the Baja race too. But his girlfriend... did not make the curve. Herbie, he see it. He stop. He no finish the race." what's more, in the tv series, Dianne (giselle's driver) makes an appearance, albeit played by a different actress, and makes clear references to the events of Monte Carlo. Giselle is nowhere to be seen, and isn't even mentioned, and it would be downright odd for someone to just sell a living car like nothing (i would NEVER sell a car that was alive). This means that Giselle was totaled during the baja race, possibly trying to protect Dianne, and died as a result.

@@kameerhosein5748 The baja race is a type of rally race with some rallycross shenanigans, cars gan get totalled easily, you can catch a glimp of what it looks like in the first film, with the Tijuana - Tecate scene.

This was the first Herbie movie I ever saw so I just like the people in this movie thought the car's name was "Ocho". Derp. Just seeing poor Herbie fall to pieces in this movie really is a metaphor for how this series was falling apart at this point.

The one thing that I like about this movie, is the visuals. The shots in this movie are very breathtaking to look at, especially with the scenes of Herbie & Paco driving with the friend song.

I love this movie it’s not as good as the first but it’s good continuation I love the kid I think he is the best character in the movie along with Herbie their friendship is so good! Although I can see why it’s not liked all that much it has so crazy stuff but it maybe a it will get a cold following one day

I honestly don't blame you for hating this. This was a weak film but a guilty pleasure. 1) Glad you mentioned the TV miniseries 2) When you look over The Love Bug (1997) you'll see something everyone wanted to know. Herbie's origins! "Bum bum bum~"

I love all the other Herbie movies, EXEPT FOR THIS ONE!!!! This one just scars me for life. It just surprises me that Herbie, one of the most famous car celebrities on Disney, has been put in this movie which should belong in hell!

This movie has one moment when it makes you cry and a whole lot of attempts to make you laugh. And no racing. If they did not make that ship scene, I would have forgiven it. But no need for such a sad scene in a Herbie movie.

I thought Herbie Goes Banana is good as the other three sequels, not the best as The Love Bug, but I’m a fan of the classic film series and prefer it over the 1997 film and the 2005 film which those two I’m not a fan of because of how cartoony and PIXAR CarsISH Herbie acts. I also like Herbie The Love Bug TV Series.

This movie really is shit. The only saving graces for this movie are the impressive practical effects and stunts, Herbie's emotive beeps, the bullfight and Harvey Korman and Cloris Leachman. Other than that, the movie is incredibly bland, boring and forgettable. A much better idea with the same location (imo) would have involved Jim Douglas and Wheely racing in a tag-team off-road rally along the coast of Latin America, Diane and Giselle race as well, being the second part of the team. Paco who is still an orphan though a bit older at 11-12, made money off of scrapping engines and sells the parts and therefore is quite knowledgeable on the inner machinations of a vehicle but is low on cash and resorts to pickpocketing Diane. Diane catches him, but realizes his situation, and sees his knowledge and offers to take him in as her personal mechanic. Not having a mechanic of her own. Over the course of the movie, the two of them form a mother/son bond. At this point, after his various stunts, especially the end of Monte Carlo where Herbie goes upside down, Herbie and Giselle are well known by most other racers to be sentient cars. But, due to this, there are talks of whether or not they should be allowed due to the potential unfair advantage of a car that has a better control over itself than the driver. There would still be opportunities for the amazing scenic locations of the original HGB. But continue to explore the culture and scenery of Latin and South America. And have a story that was tighter to the roots of what made the Love Bug series special while also expanding on it with Herbie having respect rather than always being seen as a joke.

This is when the series goes downhill and while nothing is as bad as this movie the series ever recovered but that's just my opinion if you like it more power to you gald you can like something that I can't stand.

I hated this movie as a kid, but I love it as an adult. It was my first exposure to Central America when there wasn't much being filmed there, if nothing at all. Yes, it was sad, but the ending is always a hoot to watch.
