Hugo, you just saved us a lot of time and money over the next few years. We shoot a lot of 15 to 60 minutes of data-heavy interviews and were ripping through storage like no tomorrow. We implemented your media management tips in our workflow and we are now saving around 50% to 60% of storage space after the 1st derush pass.

This is incredibly helpful! Once I finish a project filmed in R3D and I'm happy with the exact edit I may keep the shots permanently trimmed for archiving. Great to know I don't need to resort to Red Cine-X anymore :D Thank you.

Hi! I desperatly need help with a project Media management (when I copy) fails, but most of the clios are done, but for some reason when relinking media to the new place the clipa time ode in the time line aren't the same so everything looks offline unless I manually drag it to where it needs to be...

Is there a more direct solution to archive and trim ONLY THE CLIPS USED (not all the media pools) on different timelines belonging to a project without to have to select the clips in the timeline (as you described as you preferred method) ?

After I trim (without transcoding) when I import the trimmed files again and I try to transcode it fails: Failed to decode, check if the file is still available on HDD. Anyone has this issue? Trimmed videos become unusable.

Thx Hugo. After we do this step, do we need to delete anything such as the original large file size before the Media Management step?

But what if trimmed files have huge amount of frame handles on each side, regardless of me setting this parameter to 0? 100fps sony a7III mp.4 files.

Cheers for this Hugo. I am fairly new to BRAW having just bought the 12K URSA 6 weeks ago. I'm using Resolve 17.1. All workflow and editing going really well so far- blown away by being able to smoothly edit 8K BRAW on my 2014 MBP, with no rendering needed. It's pretty scary deleting the original source files having trimmed and copied the BRAW using Media Management. You need total trust that if it say's its worked fine then it has. I deleted my first 2.5TB last night. It's too time consuming to go through every copied clip to check for dropped / missing frames. Have you ever experienced this or anything else like it to be aware of? I did a lot of google searching to find any other reports before deleting my first load of source footage, as I'm paranoid and trying to be extra careful. Look forward to hearing your view! Thanks Woody

Hello, I have a clip on my TL. I've trimmed within the clip to remove parts that I no longer want. It's now a TL of multiple clips. I'm trying to still use media management to export this TL as 1 braw clip or I've created a new compound clip and I'm trying to use media management to export it as 1 braw clip. Nothing is working. It exports the original untrimmed version of the clip or multiple trimmed clips. How can I export the new sequence as 1 Braw clip?
@HugoWill
@HugoWill 2 жыл бұрын
it's really hard to help since I dont see the steps are done...
@Sincerelytk
@Sincerelytk 2 жыл бұрын
@@HugoWill what do you mean? 1. Create new timeline with selected clip 2. Trim the video clip at multiple parts within the single clip 3. Nudge each cut closer together so that it's 1 long clip without gaps 4. I'd like to export this timeline, or consolidate the clips from media management to preserve BRAW. Rather than media management each cut from a single timeline.

Thank you for this video, Hugo! I have a question though. If I make trimmed copies of my footage through Media management, how do I know that the copies are the same quality as the original footage? I would love to always trim my RAW footage, create copies and throw away the original, but I would be worried about the quality. Can you recommend a source where I can read up on this?
@HugoWill
@HugoWill 3 жыл бұрын
because if you do that this way it doesn't even process the footage, it just copies it already trimmed. and you'll know that it's raw when you put it back to an editing software. it'll have all metadata

incredible, very useful information. Question, Braw copy besides trimming can I take out the audio? I tried your workflow and it works but I would like to create new BRAW files but without the audio. Eventhough there is no audio in the timeline (I deleted them) it still copies the new trimmed Braw files with audio

Hi there, not 100% sure, but I'm suspecting that if you select only the video files in your timeline and then select the option "Use selected Timeline Clips", that should fix the problem. Let me know if that works ;-)
