I’d say the ape makeup holds up pretty well. I love how they hunt humans and treat them like pets and trophies…..it’s spooky.

Was binge watching Decker Shado's Planet of the Apes review, and binge watching Media Hunter's reviews. This is like chocolate and peanut butter for me.

This ending has been parodied multiple times, such as The Simpsons, Futurama, Madagascar, The Grim Adventures of Billy and Mandy, etc.

I was pretty young the first time I saw this movie, but I never really considered the Big Reveal to be very big. There were clouds in the sky, trees, horses, guns, humans, and everyone in the "advanced" species spoke English. To me, there wasn't much doubt they landed on Earth.

In the 70's the movie theaters ran a triple feature of these films. 📽

Something I always wondered about the original series of Planet of the Apes movies, were horses the only other animal to survive everything that happened besides apes and humans? Were there any other animals that survived into the distant future? We see in Caesar’s time in the original series and the reboot trilogy that there are other animals, but why are horses the only other animals we see in the original two movies, when apes rule supreme and humans are dumber?

I love the Planet of The Apes franchise flaws and all it’s a shame they couldn’t give them a higher budget

this is by far one of the best sci-fi movies ever made! I hope someday you don't end up reviewing the 2001 remake or reimagining film directed by Tim Burton (released 20 years ago) soon! plus that clip from the Simpsons is totally the icing on the cake!

I attended a mighnight madness all-nighter at a local review theatre (I think it was some kind of ape anniversary, because they cancelled the midnight showing of Rocky Horror for it). Battle For the Planet of the Apes is really really gawdawful at 5:00am after 4½ hours of monkey business. Even though I paid $1.99 for all 5 movies, I still overpaid for #5 - to this day the worst movie I've ever paid to watch. But #1 & #3 are kick-ass! Great retrospective dude, but consider normalizing your audio. Your film clip segments were much quiter than your review segments which made me keep one hand on the volume control while watching. Way too much work.

I know you have said this in other planet of the apes, but your comments about why the year 2673 is showing is because Heston is clearly stating Einstein's theory of relativity in which as they approach very close to the speed of light time in the ship slows down and speeds up outside of it thats why they can be in space just 18 months but they are now over 2000 years in the future, thought that would help.

Stewart's grave? No way!
@edwardbloecher45638 ай бұрын
Apologies ahead of my contradictory comment but, Landon planted flag in a small pile of rocks and dirt not Stewart's grave. Her body went down with the Icarus and the guys needed to move out. Not sure where you got information. There's not a thing in literature nor the movie that suggests this.
@Hewylewis3 ай бұрын
He means the flag and the pile of rocks represent Stewart's grave, dude. He never said that she was buried.

I never really got into this movie. I think it's largely because Heston's character is so unlikable throughout. And also I had seen so many copies and parodies of every aspect of this movie first, seeing the actual movie didn't have the same impact it would have if I had seen it when it originally came out. I do admire a lot of the ideas it is trying to convey though.

3:56 and missed out on earth being taken over by stupid aliens in the year 3000 with John Travolta giving the most over the top performance and severing the heads of bartenders.

I've read the original novel and there's a reason my sci-fi hating teacher let me do a book report on it. I can handle that it doesn't have as much action, though I found it boring when I read it. I also found some of the segments, including one with a "native" human who could speak, had some rather pretentious dialog that made my eyes roll at times. Maybe a new readthrough would bring some reassessment on that but I still found it boring with some occasional good moments but wasn't a fan of it overall.
@seffentine56793 жыл бұрын
How DO you spell the author and The Book?
@ShadowWingTronix3 жыл бұрын
The book should just be called Planet Of The Apes, or at least the copy in my school library back in 1990 (I'm old) was. Not sure on the author's name spelling though.

What an amazing review Media, and I am so can't to see more review of my favorite film series that would be Planet Of The Apes, either both the original trilogy and even the EPIC rebooted trilogy. The original 1968 Planet Of The Apes film is truly an timeless classic, and my favorite Charlton Heston film with Ben-Hur and The Ten Commandments.

This film is really good even after nearly 55 years. Yea there’s hokey moments and acting, but for a film about sentient apes who took over from humanity that’s honestly deep
