Gulab Singh Johrimal - Delhi’s Oldest Perfume Shop

As the sun rises in Old Delhi, the hustle and bustle begins. Walking through its streets, one can feel history running through the veins of these narrow lanes and its establishments. Gulab Singh Johrimal, the oldest perfume shop in Delhi is one such place that is holding onto its 200-year-old history.
Established in 1816 the shop is keeping up the legacy of its forefathers by maintaining its originality, authenticity and creativity.
Everyday many locals and tourists, including foreigners, visit the shop to buy perfume products including fragrant soaps, agarbatti (incense stick), ittar (essential oil), etc., however, the Ruh Gulab is their iconic product and is still considered to be their specialty.
MIGTV visited the shop and experienced firsthand how Mukul Gundhi, the seventh generation owner of the shop has kept the legacy of his forefathers alive.

Good video! Thanks for showing the owners. You are pronouncing the owner's name as गुंधि. It has to be pronounced as गंधि, a word derived out of the Samskrta word गंध, which means fragrance. The person involved in the business of गंध is known as गंधि. In English they might have written it as 'Gundhi', because English uses both 'u' and 'a' letters to sound 'अ’. The English letter 'u' becomes अ syllable in 'cut' and becomes यु syllable in 'put'. We should have the awareness of our own language words and pronounce them irrespective of how they are spelt in English. Because English has limited number of alphabets compared to Indian languages.

The fragrances are average at the best, the shop owners (person dealing with customers) is actually quite rude and that is something that is a big turn-off. I wouldn't recommend this place at all!
