I was curious when I saw this one announced and saw its gameplay via some showcases. It still looks pretty neat and there are some great ideas put in place here. Hopefully the drawbacks can be ironed out to make it even better than it really is. But for the time being, I think I'll keep it on the wishlist and wait for a good sale. This was a pretty ribbit-ing review.

It looks like a somewhat slower Chameleon Twist. The aesthetic is top tier though, I always loved the technique of having a texture for a face, especially when it's stylized like an anime.

*Found out the icon is for a game challenge that you can complete early (before it's revealed to the player). These are for expert time trials beaten. What's that one icon on total progress that has a ring of diamonds around the bug? Is the number for how many races won? I'm early in the game and so far it's fun. There's some things I don't like though none game breaking (for ex. immediate full speed run & camera movement) and I see over on Steam people have brought the same things in the forums which have replies from the dev mentioning about releasing updates to regarding those things. The only thing not brought up there is a bug on the Xbox version (the only version I've played) where if you go into photo mode and you press the button that removes all the text so you can screenshot a clean photo, you are stuck here and must force close the game to exit photo mode. Backing out of it works up until you press A to remove the onscreen text. I also see a problem on the PC version mentioned on Steam with pressing the play button, something to do with a demo (if the person played it before) and dev has instructions up for how PC players can fix that. *It's been brought up that the level may have a bug in the number of coins. Dev has commented that if that is correct, a fix will be applied ASAP. If level Scorched shows for you there should be 311 coins to get but you can only find 309, wait for a patch.

The camera in the hidden area of the 1st boss level is horrible but managed to get the skull & exit there after skydiving only 10 or 15 times lol. *Just noticed that's not the only area with a bad, problem camera. The hidden area in 2-1 is unfair & maddening and after it there's no checkpoint, just a platforming spot horrible camera. I don't mind falling a lot due to needing to practice but this was the game's fault for most of my falls here, just ridiculous & infuriating.

You want to pronounce it "fro-gun" because English has a layer of unwritten/intuitive rules about where you break syllables, and a "frog-gun" pronunciation would require the "g" to be doubled. (Same reason for the difference between "mat" and "mate". The "e" gives the "t" something to bind to so the "a" is free to say its own name.) I played on PC using mouse and keyboard and had no issues with the aim. I turned the aim assist off. When doing continuous grapples, I just held forward key and let my camera aim where I need to go (using the mouse to control the camera) When doing left,right,forward,back grapples I left my camera at a comfortable position(Usually almost like a 2D game view.) and just used the keys to aim the direction. On grapples that require bouncing off of things I also used the 2nd method. I do agree with the race hitbox thing, I tend to want to go faster than him, but then he just hits me in midair and I fall to my death. It was very annoying. I also agree with the SFX some of the SFX felt a little annoying. Overall tho, I enjoyed the game enough where I am going for the 100%. Nice review btw, loved the frog puns.

I wouldn’t necessarily describe it as easy, but it’s simple enough to learn the mechanic. Acquiring all of the items or going for a fast time will certainly make the game even more challenging.

Do you know if there's any meaningful difference between the PS4 and the Switch version? This doesn't look like a very demanding game but sometimes Switch versions have drawbacks.

I just realized because of this review, the game looks more like Chameleon Twist and not so much like Mario 64 or Banjo Kazooie. I think I have to reconsider my purchase of the game.

The game looked good by watching the trailer. But I am kinda disappointing with the basic mechanics. The jumping and gun is very basic and needs more features. The basic jumping and no double jumping looks like it may be frustrating. I saw you falling so many times. That would drive me nuts. Lol. Thank you for your honest review, I will pass on this one.
