In mediation analysis total effect b= -.79 and direct effect b= -.24 both are significant, so in this case which value is considered greater the one which is closer to zero?

No. Actually negative or positive sign only indicates direction so the great value is one which possesses higher magnitude such as b = -.79

@Everyday Psychology I've a question. I run mediation analysis, as you've described in the video. I got value of β=-.21** in model 1. In Model 2, it increased (-.09) and became non-significant. Non-significant shows full mediation.. but what about increasing the magnitude of β in Model 2? Does it make any difference? As, in your case, beta value was decreasing in Model 2.

Negate and Positive just indicates direction of prediction. Thus it would be interpreted as negative prediction
