Thank you so so much for the basic info because I had forgotten how to use my Nikon. I am not a photographer, my daughter is. I just wanted a camera and had it for quite a long time now. I attempted to use it this past weekend and had it in live mold, then I couldn’t remember how get it to record again. I got so confused. I just got a d5100 and want to blog so I want to know if I can set up my camera with night vision light? Where to get one? And I already have a microphone coming so do u have suggestions or can you show a video how to set up a camera so I can have both on my camera? Thank you I’ve looked everywhere.

Night vision light? You talking about an led light there are a few under $100 that might work.

I got one but im new to my camera and the night vision light is no different to the night vision effect and seems to need a light source, i want to be able to use in the dark

After turning the camera on . Put in it manual mode,then press flash switch on the side (the flash light pops up). Then by switching to view finder adjust to favoured focus then ,have a gentle half press..then fully press. And it flashes..

can you only use video when the back cover is open? I've had this camera for a while and never remember how to activate the video. I'm also curious about GPS? how does that work with this? never knew it had it.

Nope it's not good for vlogging it's heavy and the auto focus is not so good
