Compression. The lower the bitrate, the fewer 'chunk's of the screen will be updated every frame (+ some algoritm bs that decides which ones are more important to update)

in a 1080p video, you have 2073600 pixels (1920x1080). Typically you want 3 bytes per pixel (1 for red channel, and then green, and blue) so that's 6mb for each frame of video. Multiply by 60 frames per second and that's 373MB per second of video (to convert to bits instead of bytes, to get a bitrate, that's almost 3gbit/s). That's not even counting audio. As you can see that adds up very quickly, plus you need a hard drive or internet connection that can stream data that fast to the computer to display. So, not viable for many people. There are many many many strategies and algorithms created to help compress video, to simplify things we can measure the bitrate, that will tell us the compression ratio of the video. Bitrate is rarely constant, instead it's more of an average, so the video encoding/compression software can use more bits for more busy/important sections of video and use less bits where it can afford to while not dropping quality too low. Of course if you set the bitrate too low on accident, the encoder has to make severe quality tradeoffs to meet the target bitrate. The effects will vary depending on the algorithm. Most focus on tracking changes between frames, so with a mostly static image the bitrate can be low while getting high quality since not much may change from frame to frame, but with a lot of motion quality will start to suffer to maintain the same bitrate. There's a lot more to it but that is a basic introduction. OP likely typoed the bitrate in his recording software. As I said if you want to record 1080p video uncompressed that's 3gbit/second so it makes more sense to apply at least some minimal compression as you are recording as long as it doesn't affect the quality noticeably., since writing 3gbit/second to any drive is likely to affect the game you are trying to play in some way, plus you will quickly run out of storage space for your recordings! Specifying a bitrate when recording allows the recording software to adjust the quality of the recording dynamically to meet that bitrate target. OP can test to find a bitrate that looks great while not taking up a lot of storage space. In this case he either typoed the bitrate or experimented with a lower bitrate he thought would work well, but didn't (possibly adjusting other encoding settings, such as the encoder/algorithm used, could affect quality at the same bitrates that work fine in other encoders).

Got kicked from vote kick bots for playing TF2 the way it was actually intended . With as many bots and cheaters that are in this game these days I think EVERYBODY should question how many of the active player base are actually bots or cheaters. This will prove that player count doesn't equal the game being "alive still" TF2 is COMPLETELY dead and anybody who wanted to defend this once beautiful game turned piece of trash because the developers have decided on their own will to abandon any improvement or enhancements to VAC.
