Great work ! I would just add that green people isn't really a right thing. It's better that everyone is neutral. Trust isn't really suffisant to know if someone is cheating or not. You or some of your friends could have been a great help for the project, but still be cheaters on other accounts or even this account. They would have done this only to "protect" themself or to just have fun. Anyway, I just don't really like that all the creators and contributors of the project are all marked as "not cheater". Cause we really don't know.

Some of these groups would just sit in visible places on the map in the safety of there teams just... doing... NOTHING! I hated them so much. I learned the maps really well, learned how to fight not only multiple people at once, but also people who I could not even touch in a frontal engagement. Then tying it all together with my already strong running/parkour skills... let the therapy begin!

It's an interesting project that you've made here man. I do however advice you to make some sort of security or set a certain standard when it comes to marking people as cheaters. As you yourself said, whenever you mark them, they're pretty much done (in the eyes of a casual). This situation reminds me of the drama in the Smash community. Major tournaments used to go by this ban list that was made by some random dude, if he said that someone shouldn't be allowed in, then they weren't allowed. This list was more than misused because the creator of it was a power-hungry idiot. If you wish to know the details, the youtuber Technicals made several well informed videos on it. What I am trying to say, is that if this got big enough, it is a very dangerous power for one man to have. Not that I see any red flags with how you do it, but since one of your trusted discord members leaked it, who is to say that something worse couldn't happen in the future? Anyway, just some food for thought. Great vid!

Machine Learning automatically tracking and 'detecting' cheaters. Plugin that forcibly makes all clients with it installed votekick people it flags as cheaters. Plugin reporting whoever does not have the plugin installed if not enough to instant votekick someone. This kind of thing can be so easily abused by malicious actors im tempted to report this to valve.

Personally I am fine with his endevour as long as he keep peoples information private to a certain extent. I don't think everyone in the community is sane enough to stop themselves from harassing people, and even if someone is cheating / supporting it, that is not the way to make change. On whether it addressed my concerns, I am not quite sure. My main goal was to highlight how a database which controls the outcome for everyone should be run by one man alone. Such a thing can be greatly misused, even with the best of intentions. But after all, I am just a normal joe playing my favorite games every now and then. 10:30 I'd like to add that while VAC bans disappear from public display after 7 years, game bans do not. Game bans remain on the profile, and if the player has BOTH a VAC and game ban, both will be displayed indefinitely (as far as I am aware)

As far as I can tell, these are people in the OCE or AS region. But to answer that.. 1) i don't think that's the current goal here, but it doesn't void the fact that some people do cheat in both MvM and casual. So, they are most likely marked off as red. 2) Exploiting =/= cheating.

I don't play Mann Up (and neither do my friends afaik) so the database doesn't cover cheaters there, although I would mark them if I saw them. I've watched the recent Weezy vid and I'm of the opinion that cheaters in MvM aren't okay. MvM servers are VAC secured so if VAC wasn't terrible it would ban those cheaters anyway. Exploiting bugs doesn't count as cheating. In my eyes it's the responsibility of the game developer to ensure exploits are patched, however we all know Valve's track record on game updates. There are definitely trolls and griefers in the game and I lump exploiters in with them. If what they're doing is severe enough I just kick them. The infamous upward tele spot on last comes to mind, I definitely used that a few times myself before it was patched. In my experience though cheaters FAR outnumber exploiters, probably 100:1 ratio from my POV.

I wonder if a cheater would ever make an entirely new account to evade this? Could you track when somebody moves an entire inventory to see if that means they are moving their items to a new steam profile?

I was gonna say, I thought that was how VAC bans still worked-get caught cheating, your account is banned from that game until hell freezes over. I wonder why they changed it, and what a VAC ban even means if you can get 40 of them and still play the game.

Impressive, yet creepy. I somehow managed to find cheaters whom I had come across. Dunno if it's them or just they have the same nickname. Unfortunately, I don't play on Australian servers so I can't recognize most of them stars but it's still interesting to see tons of cheaters (mainly bots) all linked to the same randomly-generated-numbers named accounts. Have you contacted Valve yet to let them know about those accounts?

@@vita8343 It's their job and it's better than doing nothing. They're the first to be concerned and these very interesting data visually highlight the connections between all the accounts. It's literally a spiderweb and cheaters are in the very center of it.

Wouldn't that be simular to slave's branding? You cheated once, when you were young or high or whatever, and now you are forever branded a cheater for that mistake. VAC system is a good variant, **but** it should work a bit better.
