That’s because medical assistants perform tasks like taking and testing blood, performing EKGs, setting up for minor surgery, and much more. If supporting medical professionals and providing patients with compassionate care is your calling then UMA’s Medical Assistant program could be the perfect fit for you.
UMA’s Medical Assistant program also includes a 220-hour unpaid externship under supervision in a medical office or clinic. During this time, you’ll get real-world, hands-on training. It’s a great way to learn the practical skills necessary for a career as a medical assistant.
UMA’s Medical Assistant program prepares eligible students to sit for the Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) exam as well. Although certification isn’t required by every state, successfully passing the exam and earning certification can help you become a stronger job candidate.
