I'm shaking in my boots... I begin my clerkships at the start of my 2nd year, and my first year of being a med student is almost up. Jesus, I'm perspiring

It’s gonna be awesome! You finally get to help take care of people, and watch how all the time we spend in the classroom makes peoples lives better. Everyone is nervous when they start, but that’s just one step in the process of realizing you are actually becoming a doctor! Wooooo!

An alternative to the pre-made Anki/use your own Anki debate is to use pre-made decks and edit/modify/add to the existing cards

Awesome. Some of the topics you discussed are also applicable as a pre-med in other healthcare specialties. Thanks doc

Just finished 3rd year in the UK (US citizen, IMG Med student.) Take charge of your experience, never wait for someone to offer something, go out there and find opportunity. I managed to get on numerous surgeries as the first assist. These were priceless experiences that most of my peers couldn't have imagined being allowed to do. Don't just float down the river, letting it take you wherever. Put a paddle in the water and choose a direction. Noone cares about you, more than you. Take charge of your education at EVERY step, every day.

Great video, Dr. Jubbal! Thank you for sharing! What tips can you provide on how to find the best preceptors to learn from especially if they aren't from your home program?

rn i'm in my third year (mbbs-y3) and your tips are just WONDERFUL, i've recalled some memories of teachers pimping me and my fellows and sometimes we should know something that, at that time, should sound obvious but no one could remember it, such as hepatic portal syndromes presentation. but at 1:24 you say to know what hospitals to prioritize, what does that means? in the us u can choose different hospitals and services than your class peers?

09:15 "Yeah, do you think it's gonna be easier when you have a real patient really dying?" Wow, that's real pimping!

how do we know which preceptors will go above and behond in each specialty (as an IMS how can we know that and contact them)?
