Whoever scheduled the anatomy of the respiratory system during December at my uni was a sadist. Everyone in the room had a cold, and I felt like I couldn't breath as before we got to the trachea. And just so you know, knowing its hypochondria doesn't reduce your symptoms!

@@chair547Same. The only thing I looked into deeply that stuck and actually was true was autism for me. Officially diagnosed and everything now. Wish I had known that earlier. But all the other stuff I read about is unlikely that I have it

Many thanks from a retired physician who recalls classmates experiencing "Medical Student Overdiagnosis Syndrome". We actually did have one classmate diagnosed with a pituitary adenoma and another with a non-Hodgkins lymphoma during our first 2 years of medical school though. "When you hear hoof beats, think horses..." ~(not sure who to attribute this quote)

This concept is tremendously hilarious. The scene the doc did on the plane with a patient low on insulin feels like the birth of this series.

I am a hypochondriac, so, I'm excused from reading that book. However, because I am a hypochondriac I was trying to calm my running mind for a while that the symptoms I had was nothing. It ended up being an ovarian tumor (10cm). Question everything! Don't stop until you have real answers.

My Infectious Disease Professor on day one gave us the (high) percentage of the students in the class the previous semester who had taken pause as they noticed corresponding symptoms and so she was great the entire semester of paying attention to which things we were studying and adding appropriate encouragement 😆 - so we did not need the hotline because we had our Professor and eachother 😆😆

Just because you're paranoid doesn't mean people aren't out to kill you. What if it IS that one in a million disease?! All the time they interview these poor kids with rare cancers and they all say they want to grow up to be doctors so they can treat other kids with similar problems, so what if these are those rare cases grown up and now in medical school?! Totally could happen.
