I tend to have them hot more in the winter and cold more in the summer. That you can make them cold without cooking is a real perk compared to having grits. Grits just don't make it uncooked. With soaking overnight, even steel cut oats become eatable uncooked.

Have you tried Alpino oats, specifically the chocolate flavor? It's delicious and ready to eat without any baking required. It's the best oats I've ever had!

Holy shit, I had asthma as a kid, and I outgrew it sometime in elementary school, just realizing now it probably was cause my mom made me oatmeal everyday 🤣
