Differences between employer and Medicare coverage?
@medicareadvisor56573 жыл бұрын
"For one thing, employer coverage does not usually cover preventive care for diseases like breast cancer and prostate cancer. Also, Medicare is not as restrictive as some employers when it comes to who qualifies. The main thing that sets the Medicare program apart from employer coverage is that they provide coverage whether you are working or not as long as you are over 65. In addition, unlike some employers which only cover skilled nursing facility stays until a certain number of days have been reached, Medicare covers hospice services at home or in a hospice facility indefinitely. Plus with Medicare hospital safety net, there is never a co-pay for very limited illnesses and injuries! Hope that clears it up. If you have more questions, contact us at t 1-800-240-5241. We will be happy to answer them for you."

Should people rely on employer sponsored healthcare coverage instead of buying their own insurance plans on the individual market place (if available)?
@medicareadvisor56573 жыл бұрын
"Individual insurance policies can be very expensive, especially if you have a pre-existing condition. Employer coverage is usually quite affordable- even for people with serious health concerns. Of course, Medicare is another option for people aged 65 and older. That can be a great choice because it is inexpensive, covers many preventative services that are not available with employer plans, and covers hospital care for limited periods of time at no cost to the patient. The best thing about Medicare is that you do not have to work to qualify! That means you do not have to worry about losing your employer coverage because you left work, or retired. I am part of a dual-eligibility family and I want to know if my employer insurance will cover all my medical expenses?
@medicareadvisor56573 жыл бұрын
"No, not all your expenses. Some of them will be out-of-pocket costs that you have to pay yourself. As for the others, Medicare helps people with disabilities by offering what is called a limited prescription drug benefit. That means they cover most drugs to treat specific health conditions at extremely low co-pays or no co-pays at all. It is a good idea to check with your managed care plan about what drugs they cover, because not all medications are covered by Medicare. If I have spouse employer coverage, Should I opt out of Medicare?
@medicareadvisor56573 жыл бұрын
"No. It sounds like you are not sure how insurance works, and it is a complicated topic that might take some time to figure out. At this time, Medicare is the best option for people in your situation- married couples where one person has coverage through their employer. In fact, if I were in your situation I would ask about getting an managed care plan from Medicare instead- since managed care plans have a cap on what they will pay each year before they turn down all other health care payments. If you want more information on this subject, feel free to call us at 1-800-240-5241. We will be happy to help!"

How does Medicare work when you have an employer plan as well?
@medicareadvisor56573 жыл бұрын
Under some circumstances, such as if your spouse has Medicare and you are still working for a company that offers some type of health care coverage, Medicare will NOT cover your medical expenses. Therefore, you will need to keep your employer coverage in addition to having Medicare. If you or your spouse are retired and are both eligible for Medicare, then Medicare will be the primary provider of health care coverage, not your employer plan. If this is the case, it will pay first dollar for your medical expenses and your employer-sponsored coverage will be secondary.
